This daemon starts up when you open Native Access - just figured that out 5 minutes ago. Just quit it in activity monitor and you're good to go.

I just go to application support / NI / NTK and trash the app and if I feel concerned then I will put it on the desk top for a week or so. If no probs then I will delete the app. Until the next time NI update installs it...

I did some shootouts with the Oxford Limiter and the BX True Peak and even though the former is still an excellent limiter, I don't like how (even with the 'Enhance' curve engaged) it tends to roll off a lot of the top-end air in comparison to the BX. I already have the Oxford Inflator and use that before my brickwall limiter so I already have the Enhance feature there.

I'm demoing TB Barricade now and am very impressed indeed. The audition feature is fantastic and I love all the different modes. I don't know why I haven't considered this one before; I use EQ4 and Morphit in every single session and adore them.

I've cancelled my Mix and Master monthly bundle, as like I said, I've bought outright almost every plugin from it I use on a daily basis. Looks like TB Barricade is the frontrunner for my new brickwall limiter but I also see that TDR are having a 50% off Black Friday sale so maybe I'll throw Limiter 6 GE into contention, too. Great to have so many choices at hand

Edit: Spent an hour or so with Barriccade and decided it ticked every box. Just purchased it for half the price I was going to pay for Oxford Limiter. Very happy - thanks again for the recommendation

I use Tokyo Dawn Labs Limiter 6 GE when I want to do the job myself, carefully. Tokyo Dawn software is superb, and you know on a personal note it was a real treat seeing that a lot of the old faces from late 2000s and early 2010s freeware scene are still active and not just active but making killer tools still, but getting paid now.

I have been having way too much fun recording a track I am working on. Really getting to know some tools. Once again IKMM's Comprexxer in opto mode ends up in my final dynamics chain (freaking love Comprexxer's sound), once again there's a vari-mu right before it BUT this time it's SPL Iron, drums into the side chain, and I am really liking this! Also trying Baby Audio's Parallel Aggressor and finding that like Spaced Out, it's a cool if somewhat unconventional plugin that does what it does in a neat way.

Got the Brainworx SSL 9000J's expander cutting a bunch of media hiss from some Sampletron 2 Optigan loops, making some of the cool percussion elements fit better in the track since overall it's pretty clean with minimal noise floor. The 9000J plugin is actually acting in a few spots to suppress what noise I am adding to a few different tracks as a group via Warble, in a chain with Fuse's VPRE-2C and Elysia Phil's Cascade.

The net effect of that group is to help glue instruments and samples together with some common elements, and it's working for me. This is one of the first times I've used downward expansion to achieve silence between sounds and still use some small amount of noise and I am really liking how it works in my mix. Nothing overt at all, in fact I reckon that'd ruin it, but this subtle subtle bit helps in the mix to bring these disparate elements together.

Got not one but two gat dang Echorec simulations on this track, because I really like the sound and saturation and rhythmic delay behavior of Pulsar's Echorec, but I just love the smeary repeats of the Audiority T7E on guitars and synths

I'm not sure what's going on with the Blue Lab plugins. I was able to purchase them, then download the installers from the "user area" on the website. That was a few days ago though.

Yes, the Gamivo website is the one I used for Plug and Mix. I used PayPal rather than giving them my card number directly. Maybe that would be recommended?

Paypal did say something about "suspicious activity" and made me change my password, not sure what that was about. I'm guessing just because it's not a US based website.

listen carefully to a hundred of direct IR files, then you see how to make them.
for natural spaces, of course there is the correct procedure to record them and the math to compute the stuff.
but for artificial effects, you can do insane stuff DIY eg. in the good old sound editor. but beware poor processing quality. I used a noise generator. then, a different one. I processed with various time variant filters. they sounded the same, software a or b.
but it was to be or not to be. the IR created with a) was unusable. b) is my daily bread, and a winning weapon.

Of course, merely hours after I make the decision to replace BX True Peak with TB Barricade and actually buy Barricade, I get E-Mailed an exclusive Black Friday offer - BX True Peak for $49.99 But I'm happy with my decision - TB Barricade is fantastic, and great value for money. I also got an offer for BX Masterdesk - $29.99. That's a great price, and even though I think it sounds great, I've never got along too well with it because I like more control when mastering than it offers. Got to be strong and resist....

Not on everything I do, but on some material I've had bx_masterdesk end up sounding really nice. It's one that I keep handy as a "well what if I'd like it more like _______" reference. I actually ended up using it on a track I released earlier this year because after spending a lot of time manually I just plain ended up liking the dynamics a little better from masterdesk when I dialed it in on that particular track (something about how the comp was sitting and the overall sound felt good on that track too). I like that it isn't a fully "do it for you" solution, but works very quickly for a reference.

If true, kind of blows my mind, I've used Amplitube as my go-to guitar software since the late 2000s and I really like the results, then of course got into a lot more with the recent Group Buy being so generous - I hope that if it is true things go well and employees are taken care of too, and I really hope they keep making great software and supporting it well!

I love SlickEQ GE so I think I'll grab the M version too. Never tried Kotelnikov so I don't know a thing about it. Maybe I'll grab it too, will think about it.

I like SlickEQ M a lot. It's quite different from the regular SlickEQ really, arguably it has more in common with Nova (eg. parallel eq implementation). But great features, not just eq but also stereo image tweaking and hf/lf exciters. Try the stereo image matching feature of the smart operations (Something like match "gain/pan/width", I usually reset the eq gains to 0 after it's done). Can give some nice pointers to how your mixes differ from your references spatially, and some times it even sounds good!

I didn't have Kotelnikov GE before now, but I'm very interested to try the frequency dependent ratio feature.
