I love all of their plugins...but have to say Vertigos and Elysias have terrible small GUIs, its almost impossible on higher resolutions something to read and see...hope they gonna address this issue.

I've found their emulations to be very cpu efficient. Dave Gamble mentioned on another thread that writing clever/more code can be the answer to this (vs oversampling). I hope I got this info right but answers a question I was having, as to why certain plug ins are so efficient, and so true to the source.

The Vertigo VSM-3 is fantastic ! A Swiss army knife for all saturation/distortion needs.
But yes, on a high res monitor hard on the eyes..

But between all the other harmonic enhancement plugins I have, not sure that I would need it anymore. Waves Vitamin, NLS and PA Lindell 6X-500 are amoung my favs.

I really like the plugins Brainworx made for the UAD platform. Shadow Hills comp and Millenia Eq.

the vertigo is really unique. I´m demoing the uad-version and it is a kind of its own. Much better sounding and more versatile than the waves. But expensive...

I wasn't aware that SH was made by BX.

Millennia EQ and comp were eventually ported to native so maybe they port SH at some point.

I love!! Plugin Alliance as they sound great and most are AAX DSP. Just got BassDude and it's one of my fave plugin amps!

I do agree it is incredibly great sounding and versatile.

However, take Waves Vitamin as an example, it's more flexible in the fact it is multiband and allows you to mess with mid-side enhancement as well, per band.

It's unique in the sense where it seems part eq, part compression, part harmonic saturation and it does actually sound really great.

I would use it to suppliment the sound I get from the other effects, but then saturation isn't everything either.

That said, I don't think it's an excuse to NOT get the Vertigo plugin. It's more along the notion that if I don't draw the line somewhere I would keep on spending my money on plugins until the cows come home.

So the question is do I draw the line there, or the next plugin. It certainly is very tasty and tempting to get.

I tested the vitamin in a friends studio. Yes, you can get great sounds out of it, but - afaik it is possible to widen the stereo field.
No real m/s though. Or did I miss something at this point ?
My problem with all those psychoacoutic enhancers (and I tried some) is I don´t know what they are doing under the hood...

The great thing about vertigo : you can dial in the exact amout of 2nd and 3rd harmonic distortion for stereo and/or m/s, and you always know exactly what´s going on. It is kind of a swiss army knife for all kinds of coloration.

The downside is its small interface. Difficult to read. But once you know all the features, vertigo is hardly to beat.

I guess I have to buy it...it´s too good to not buy it.

I'm not saying the Vertigo VSM-3 isnt good, I'm just providing a counter argument for myself as to how many harmonic saturation plugins do I actually need when I already have a few that are more than capable.

On one hand I would like to get it. On the other hand if I buy this one, how about the next, or the one after that or how about using the plugins I bought before then. It's a huge personal dilemma.

Maybe I should just give the devs all money now from this day forward and be done with it?!! Hahahahaha

No, it's not a very flexible mid-side operation in Vitamin, but it's there working behind the scenes as you expand or contract the stereo field. I do have other mid-side plugins as well, many of them from Plugin Alliance, so it's not like I'm short on options for anything.

Honestly, demo VSM 3 and try the presets. I've never found anything like it and have some good options. A cheap one is Reviver but not the same thing....

Overall great company. They really do have something for everyone. Just as good as the big names IMHO.

I'm seriously contemplating this one yet again, Ardis, though three things are holding me back:

1 Lack of MacOS Sierra support is precluding me from demo'ing the Native version

2 On the UAD platform, the model utilizes an inordinate amount of DSP. How does the Native version compare, if at all? If it's like VSC-2, then no discernible difference sonically? VSC-2 uses far, far less DSP on UAD, the compressor companion to this model, and the Native version is commensurate I believe

3 I have two excellent Native Saturators -- MH's Character and Klanghelm's SDRR. Collectively, I am able to match VSM-3's distortion curves when used with one another. Each are priced at $25, the former when on sale. I will stress that the curves are equally as impressive when used collectively in series. This makes sense as there are two components in series in VSM-3. Add Oxide on top, TB's Ferric, and HorNet's Analog Stage (Console,) and I'm not so sure this model adds the extra oomph that is a requisite need given its extremely high CPU profile

Can a solid case be made as I am unable to test the Native Mac version, and the UAD model is quite CPU inefficient from my perspective?

I've A/B'ed this plugin before but to be honest, I've never understood it until now.

I'm a new fan. Does the M/S Saturation thing really good.

Is it the best? I don't think so but, it does have really great options and I haven't seen or heard an M/S Saturations plugin that's better.

Character is on sale for $9. I'll buy just about anything for $9. And I kind of like what it does. In a month I might change my mind, but I've already gotten my $9 worth out of it.

A large portion the UAD Mac user community upgrades to Sierra when UAD gives the green light. I demo brainworx on the UAD platform traditionally. I cannot demo brainworx otherwise today on my Mac.

Please do not ask sophomoric questions that are pointless in nature. Check out the Main Sierra Stickie at the top & take a look at who started the thread. PT evidently is working quite well on Sierra with many of the older glitches remedied, and Logic is performing quite well too, better than El Capitan or Yosemite.

You did not address VSM-3's CPU usage rate when used Natively, the sole reason for my post. I know it's a very well performing model from previous testing rounds as already mentioned.

@ MusiKLover the native version is fairly light here, but I'm on a 12core 3.46 Mac Pro 5.1.

And Avid just supported Sierra for PT 12.6 I upgraded to both and so far the elysia set is working fine

The Bassdude is the best guitar sim I've ever played so far. This amp in the Replika delay is tone heaven for me. Bought also the limiter which is really great. I just regret the temporary lack of support of Sierra, but I know they're working on it.

Any love for the new bx_rooMS 'verb plug?

I've read the hype, but is it really anything special, especially if one has, say, the PCM Native, Valhalla and Eventide 'verbs?

I am using the MAAG EQ, Millenia Compressor and The Vertigo Compressor ... you can never go wrong with them !! Awesome Stuff really worth every penny... the only drawback is the lack of Mac OS Support ... they take quite some time to update their plugins to be able to support the newly released OS versions.

I do own & like it, very much for the early reflections / ambiences particularly for percussion. Check out its release thread under new products for much more info; I go into greater detail there, and so do many others.

"Mixing with Mike" on YouTube does a great job reviewing the model. He generally focuses on products by brainworx, Softube, UAD, Waves, and a few others, though primarily the heavy hitters.

Sierra remains a problem but Windows is good to go.

Just bought bx console and I use Lindell 254 quite a lot. Very good plugins. Bx console really impressed me. The eq is really nice.
