Ha. No really. I have no more space and have other things, like kids’ college and more expensive home repairs etc.

The only exception could be if I sold something I already had. Which I don’t see happening for at least a few more years. I also use software - cheaper to pick something up every other month or so. Will also need a new computer before new hardware.

Used reissue, serial # low 1400’s. Looks and plays basically brand new. Has the spongy aftertouch on lowest key but I do not care.

I'd love to hear your opinion on this one. I've been looking at it for quite a while.

Just welcomed an Argon8 into the family - I was contemplating DM, Minilogue XD or Hydrasynth all in desktop versions but this offer came up (and I was missing my Blofeld) and the rest are history (...for now).

Anyhow, I'm now a paid up member of the Modal owners club having both the Cobalt8 & now the Argon8 (they do look rather fetching sat next to one another) so I better be on their Xmas Card list.

Spent the last couple of days getting a feel for its sound. My very first thoughts were given its architecture is very similar to the Cobalt, so the sound & tone were too, possibly a bit too much.

However a deeper dive last night revealed its truer nature to be of a twinkling, dreamy-ambient, creamy & often a bit gnarly sounding.

To wrangle a really nice patch from it takes a much greater effort than from the Cobalt (where they literally come falling out of: I mean for every sound I make in the Cobalt there is usually 3 or 4 other versions that all sound as good - it's just an amazing sounding synth engine hence the reason I thought the Argon should be tried out).

However the last half dozen patches I've created on the Argon are just sublime (that "hairs on the back of my neck" sublime).

So it looks like it is staying (at least until the yearning for some budget analogue h/w comes back).

Got a good deal on opsix and wanted a MB2S for quite some time...

I figure these two can hold down the guitars in Studio B.

I bought one of these last month, but I've only gotten it to boot up twice, so this is the replacement. I guess this answers what I think is the best rompler of all time, huh?

Picked up a pair of MDR-7506 cans for tracking vocals because moving my headphones back and forth from my chair to my mic stand was driving me crazy and they were cheap. They sound pretty good for the money and they're nice and light. Can't complain given the purpose.

My Nektar T6 arrived yesterday and I love it... it really opens up my Juno-1, effectively making it just like a Juno-2 with the 61 keys, velocity, and aftertouch.

I made this pad sound mixing one of the Alpha Juno strings presets and one of my own patches on my Blofed. What a pad sound!

I also bought this delay pedal which I am very much liking how it sounds. I like it better than my DD-7 I used to own, even though it is mono.

Interesting. Any issues with noise on this pedal? Some of the TC's that have been released the past few years have given me some issue with that.

No noise on both of my TC delay pedals (I also have the analog Echo Brain which is on my guitar rig right now).

Chuck Levin's called me out of nowhere today. It's ready! It's actually cheaper due to sales tax quirks to have it shipped (I'll work from home that day) than to pick it up.

Just got two of these Neovas, due to a love of exploring alternate controllers, and a recent great sale.

We'll see if it rings true....

you know the Orbit ( which must have come out not long after) has 2 sub-out pairs that act as stereo inserts(send/return), back to main mix ?
otherwise, a similar spec in terms of 8mb ROM, 256 user memories (no multi patch memories) and same interfact. (more filters?)

This month so far:
- I bought Arturia FX Collection 3 (I had a few of their fx and the upgrade/crossgrade price was good enough).
- I bought a Moog DFAM.
- I built a few channels of preamp/distortion based on the MS-20 ESP (just the preamp stage, without any filter...) because I like what it does to synths and drums (I plan to use them with my TR-8S actually); I started in June but I finished the build this month... it took a lot because I went for stepped controls instead of pots (so I can closely match the channels for stereo use), so I had to solder a lot of resistors.
- I bought a few metal boxes because my local electronic components store was clearing them out (they'll keep selling other metal boxes, but they were clearing the stock of the boxes that I often like to use for my projects...)


Maybe I'll buy some software while it's on sale (I'm considering UVI Dual Delay X) and maybe some electronic components for future projects, but hopefully I'm quite done for this month and also the next one; I'd like to wait at least untill September/October for any new purchase (blasphemy, I know! )

TR-8 or not TR-8 — this is the question.

on one hand, it’s bigger than i like, and it’s limited.

on the other hand, it’s cheap, it’s MIDI controllable, and it has all the essential Roland classics (+707/727 expansion which i would definitely get).

on the fence now.

Great choice. I’ve owned the Weber and the Ox and this was the winner for me. The only thing that kinda sucks is 8 ohm only as I have some oddball tube amps with weird load load requirements. Not a deal breaker. Are you using IR cabinets? If so what’s your apps of choice?

I got it for the Celestion SMP Dynamic IRs and my Swart amp, which is perfect for driving the 8 ohms.

I'd be interested in your impression of how the 1B compares.. I got the 1 when it came out

The Alpha Juno and my BBD-320 do a lot of the work.

They arrive tomorrow. What do you think of the 1? I was gonna go with an old Pod Pro or something like that, but I found the 1 and 1B on sale and thought I'd give them a try. I remember liking COSM on the VS recorders, but I haven't tried that in forever since the VS's are mostly mastering machines for me.
