I think that new Oberheim has a lot of us guessing!

It's over my limit for hobby purchases in any case, but it's so tempting...I'll probably wait for a module version anyway. I'm out of places to put big synths right now. I'm also out of mixer inputs...

I too have strayed from my original plan (no surprise there ) I did get the Behr EQ pedals, and they work great for tone shaping with my RNC and RNLA.

I did find what I thought was a great deal on a Waldorf M, and it is on the way! I ordered from a store in Germany which had a much lower price than I had seen before, but it turns out the regular price there is substantially less than the US price (about 900 CAD difference converted).

There's also a Motas 6 on reverb for a price that has tempted me, but in the end, I've resisted, as Ive built my modular up to provide some similar options. If only I had a bigger place to live...

I also added a Rode AI micro interface to my ipad thingie, so I can record to it straight from my mixer, balanced and all.

So I was thinking hard about getting the Take5 but then I realized that the Roland System-8 wasn’t much more $ so I went that route instead! I’m looking forward to having a knobby, full-voiced (compared to the Boutique line) Juno+Jupiter+Native System-8 engine (with a Vocoder). I like lightweight gear and I don’t see the green lights bugging me so I’m eagerly awaiting its arrival tomorrow afternoon!

That's for sure. I'm kind of in the same boat. Not a lot of room left for a big synth. Nevertheless, it's for sure tempting.

My gear plans since yesterday:
Sell stuff until there's enough cash and room for the new OB-X8.
Then buy OB-X8.
Full stop.

No signs from ESP USA on my M-III. Previous estimate was March. I'm following their Insta so hopefully it'll pop up soon.
The (well-regarded) luthier I sent my Jackson to has to use up his cruise rewards, and I'm still undecided on a finish.
The local luthier I took my Thunderbird to hasn't responded to me in months.

How you like MTM?

I started the year with little to no new gear/synth plans. Well, I had GAS for the Hydrasynth Deluxe.

And I got a Hydrasynth Deluxe.

Then, completely unplanned, spurred on by a sale earlier this month, I grabbed a Moog Matriarch Dark Edition.

I think I'm finished now as far as synths go. I'd have to get a 2nd mixer, or a bigger mixer, before I can add any more gear that puts out audio.

Finally gonna build a real pedalboard

I’ve bought a lot of stuff this year (RYTM, Octatrack, System-8) and I’m still getting more! Next up is the Teenage Engineering OP-1! I really wanted to get the new field but it’s out of stock and quite a bit more expensive and I’m probably among the most impatient people when it comes to gear so I’m just going to get the classic version second hand and save some time and money. I really loved the Pocket Operator series and I’m hoping I can dig the OP-1 similarly. I’ll have the money by the end of next week and I’ve been browsing eBay and Reverb for good purchase candidates. I’m sure there’s a winner out there.

i've been on a effects pedal binge. i guess because i don't have room for another full size synth or even a desktop synth. pedals this year i bought so far: Collision Devices Black Hole Symmetry, Empress Reverb, Free The Tone Tri Avatar, GFI Synesthesia, Hologram Microcosm, and a Origin Cali76 Stacked. a Meris LVX has been preordered.

The Access Virus TI2 Desktop I bought a month ago has proven to be an incredibly good choice.

It’s replaced my Waldorf Blofeld and a couple of effects (TC Helicon VoiceLive 3 Extreme, Strymon Mobius), which I’ve sold. I’m enjoying the Virus’ extensive effects section, which can also process external signals such as voice and guitar.

I just ordered a Squarp Hapax hardware sequencer, the putative successor to Squarp’s still-available Pyramid. I’m moving further and further from VST’s and sequencing from my DAW. I like hardware!

Wait till September so that I can hear more OB-X8/3rd Wave demos and see what's the new synthesizer from Sequential. Decide what to buy afterwards.

Hopefully by the end of the year I will have a poly analogue.

I purged all my DCO synths years ago now (2 x JX-3P, JX-8P)

and the only remotely semi-analog I have is a SQ-80 which has sat in its road case since purchase in 2019)

The Artisan Electronic Nucleus has interested me, it will be revealed as a 4 voice at Knobcon in September.

In theory, it will be available as a keybed after this, as well as up to 8 voices.

Time and interest, will tell!

New lumatone keyboard. Just arrived. Doesn’t make any sound yet; but that’s where a computer, modules, and other attachments will come in.
With microtonal music coming back in style after a few hundred years of mostly 12-tet...here we go!

After the preorders on both the OB8X and the 3rd Wave I’m done.
What’s funny is that I’ll actually spend that much again on transport of a few other big ticket items that I bought but haven’t received yet…

I left the hobby just before last Christmas and now I'm back. The list for keyboards is still the same:

• Hydrasynth (keyboarded version for the ribbon-controller).
• UDO Super 6.

Can't decide between the Hydra and the UDO—anyone else have difficulty deciding between these two? Since just re-buying the System 8 and a JD-Xa last week, I really don't need more keyboarded synths, yet both remain on the most-wanted list. Then I remembered all the stuff still on my modular wish list:

• Tiptop FSU.
• Miso Cornflakes (really been waiting for this one—and now it's here!).
• Mindphaser (ended up liking Mindphaser demos more than Cosmotronic's Vortex).
• Strymon Magneto.

Received my Piston Honda over my hiatus, so now I feel a desperate need for a Donut and Bionic Lester, too. Just read about Paul's pending retirement here so may have to pop for an E370 before they're all gone (or just buy a used one).

I'm gonna be listing and selling all the grooveboxes soon. If I get that itch again, there's plenty of ways to emulate that in Eurocrack. In fact, East Beast and West Pest are high up on my list because they're both practically grooveboxes in module form. I'm just procrastinating because selling gear online really does suck a lot of time out of your life.

Welcome back! I was just thinking the other day I hadn't seen you posting for a while. Last I remember, you were talking about going down the modular rabbit hole. IIRC, you took the classiest looking glamor shots of you're gear. Glad to see you back around here.

1. Get all equipment OUT of the pawn shops. Mostly things I can live without for now, but would like to get home ASAP.

2. Obtain a MC909. Just want it to be the centerpiece of my CV/Midi equipment. I’d like to expand it as far as the sound cards & sample memory goes.

3. A Eurorack case. I’ve put it off long enough. Time to just get one within my budget, and be done with it.

4. A Yamaha ReFace DX. Just never hurts to have more FM to work with.

That’s about it.
