Picked up a Behringer BCR2000 to use as a box of knobs for the Waldorf Microwave. Saw one at a store and decided not to hold my breath for the BCR32 any longer. Didn’t have the power cable, but Micro Center did and the unit seems to function.

I'm deliberately keeping my 500 aquisitions minimal. Just something for tracking and something for the 2bus, don't want to end up with racks and racks of stuff like the big bois hehehe!

Got it, thx! I just got a BS2 recently and realized that I'm probably one of those weird guys who like DCOs. In my mind and based on what I heard DM sounds something like a poly BS. Of course I would prefer if Novation came up with this themselves. Well, I guess I can always return it if I don't like it.

1 purchase only this month and wasnt for me. My daughter just completed her GCSE and is doing Music btec next year as a bit more modern and interesting than A level Music. Got her a native instruments A61 controller keyboard to go with her macbook. Down the rabbit hole she goes

I like the FB-01 and wrote a patch editor for it (in Edisyn). But I must respond that it does not, and cannot, have That Bass, if by That Bass you mean LatelyBass. LatelyBass requires a waveform that the FB01 (and DX21/27/100) does not have. You can get sorta in the vicinity with SolidBass, but it's not the same, lacking a bit in resonance. It's a bit of a nitpick, but this is GearSpace after all.

Seriously though, I find FB-01 (and TQ5 for that matter) sound a little better/smoother for pads as opposed to percussive sounds where TX81z is king. Though 99.5% of general population won't even notice it...

Well... the TQ-5 single-patch parameter set is a superset of the TX81Z and so should be able to reproduce it more or less identically. Also looks all snazzy in that '80s stylin'.

The TQ-5 is not FB-01 based. It is the desktop module version of the YS-100 and YS-200 keyboards, which are TX-81Z-based with easy edit and IIRC no portamento. The TQ-5 does however come with a lovely clock mode.

You'll have to make up your own mind obviously, but my anecdote... before quarantine, I used to go to the store and try out fx pedals all the time. I used a Minilogue as the host, since I knew it. When the store sold the Minilogue, I switched to their DM6 (this was before Behringer's "superpartners") and... I stopped buying pedals for a few visits.

Eventually I got fed up with that, and I switched to the store's BSII as my pedal host and... I started buying fx pedals again

I thought the sound was okay, but I guess combined with the pedals it was always just south of the "I need this sound" line, for me. I'm also less into a Juno-ish sound than most here, but it's not because of DCOs. I think it's because of DCOandsortofahalf. I think the Deepmind sounds I heard that I liked were mostly DM12 layered patches. I think if the Minilogue was a 1 VCO synth, I'd feel the same way. Even with 2 VCOs per voice, duophonic (with 4 per voice and spread) is my favorite voice mode it has. If you like "1 and a sub-osc" synths, you'll probably like it. Maybe I should've said this part 1st?

Good point, this. Even with my minilogue XD, I sometimes find that its 4 voice pad occupiess too much sonic space. And it's not even considered an ultrafat VCO synth of ancient times.

I'm currently using my TX81Z for similar duties... but I got Lately Bass... which is so damn good for arp'd basslines... nails the perfect Goa/Psy (and also EBM) bass sound, though I use my Boog too and actually sounds pretty similar heh
