Virtual Reality in music- composing, performing, etc.
I recently purchased an Oculus Rift VR headset and have been totally blown away with the technology. A couple days ago I was messing with a free demo with featured Deadmau5. You start out in his studio which is filled with various synths and thought that it was pretty cool to be in there via VR. I'm curious if anyone has heard of any music composing, or performing applications that may be in the works with VR? It seems like the skies the limit with it and I'm excited to see what the future holds, and cannot help wondering if the technology holds any neat surprises for us all in electronic music composition.
I think the general idea is to use monophonic sound sources and let the software move them depending on where you are. Occulus have a neat free 3d audio plugin you can grab on thier site. I posted a thread about it about 6 months ago so look in my thread history if you cant find it. Have a gear vr myself. So impresive what even a phone can do so really looking forward to trying on a high end pc. Probably hold out till the next generation of vr though. 8K per eye and all that. Also magic leap is going to hit soon im sure. Google that
