About a year and half I posted this, I found I preferred adding some of the transformer weight for some character is preferred. Lol

When I use a channel strip, it's Console N. But it's more and more rare for the same reason I mentioned previously: the interface is, in my opinion, badly designed and I favor a quick workflow over sound.
On top of that, there are too many great sounding EQs and compressors out there, so I rarely find a reason to go with Console N.
Too bad, cause I'd still love to use it on every channel, but I just have a hard time orienting myself when using it.
My go-tos are Pro-Q and Electra DSP, Pro-C, and UAD compressors (Distressor, 1176, LA2, TG1 if I'm feeling adventurous) depending on the application. UAD API channel strip is fantastic, but I tend to use it only when tracking as I don't have the necessary DSP for mixing.

SlickEQ GE gets more use here than anything else, especially using the loudness compensation. For that same broad shaping vibe, I like API 550 style EQs because the options are limited, but sometimes it's nice to really dial in on that sweet spot for a cut on the Slick.

BX SSL E is my go-to for radical, audible carving, though I find myself doing that less as I try to already have sounds there during tracking.

I've had N for years and it is a fine strip...but compared to the others it's in an odd place where it's not as flexible as digital and doesn't have the same personality and mojo as the SSLs.

Well the Console N has a smooth sound, so if that is what you want, its one of the best. The UAD N has a tighter focused sound while the BX N is has a wider stream. All depending on which character you want will dictate the best for that particular track.
