The bx is exellent in every area : Sound , workflow , features and cpu hit ....

Bx Console E G rocks!

I use it on everything I can, its a great sounding plugin, I would say I go for this one above the UAD SSL, but both are great for what they do.

Shame they messed up the cut n boost, I dare not upgrade from fear of loosing sound settings I used it so much

to be fair Waves was great at the time it appeared, they should have updated this plugin but missed the boat glad PA stepped in for the native users.

Absolutely. I ended up picking up the E Channel in the sale. Really after the G Channel but the E is a great addition to my workflow. I could almost match the sound with the Waves E Channel on blind shootouts. The Brainworx one won out on all of them but it was close.

It was when I used multiple instances that it took on a whole new ballgame. I matched the waves E channel as closely as I could by ear on a real kick drum with a few channels of samples mixed in.

It was absolutely night and day at this point. The depth that came from the brainworx plugin was incredible.

The only competitor for this SSL strip is the UAD 4000, what's very impressive about the brainworx is the low DSP usage, you can use this on a relatively light weight system and get some great results.

Waves is good but I cannot remember the last time I used it. I agree on the matching E & G on the real desks you would be hard to tell the difference between an E mix and a G Mix, one thing you could say with certainty was its was mixed on an SSL.

The more I continue to use the Bx Console E, the more i'm blown away. It's pretty much all I use on a mix now aside from a very small choice amount of plugins for effects, coloration, etc.


Wondering what all of you are using on the master bus when mixing with this to enhance it even further?

My experience with this plug is very similar. The workflow & sound are fantastic, and I too do less further processing of tracks now that this is a part of the kit.

In addition to bx_console E, I'm personally using differing combinations of Acustica SAND, Klanghelm SDRR 2, Sonimus TuCo, Newfangled Equivocate, and one or two of a handful of reverbs and imaging plugs to very subtly widen the stereo field and add depth on my master bus. Really digging the sounds I get with various versions of these combinations...

This is exactly what i was thinking.There is this nocturne but i don't know anyone who had try it.

I used it back in the day on many plugins and it was great but it doesnt support aax plugins as the nocturn wrapper cant wrap on aax; so it was deemed useless for me after pt 11.

And you are totally right; this bx_console E is absolutely amazing! Gotta be a "Best plugin of 2017" top contender!

I think they did a great job with this plug in. The UAD SSl is just as good, not better. It has a more centered image while the Brainworx has a wider image. The problem with UAD is it is so DSP hungry on their card that the Brainworx SSl would be a better choice.

Just put did a mix with bx_console E with CLA Mixdown on the master bus. Gotta say, it sounded prefect. Brought me back to my LFC days while using my MacBook.

Quite impressed.

Still very happy on my purchase.
Maps perfectly on d-command.

When will we see the ssl buss compressor ?

Don t overlook the vertigo vsc 2 ... with it s dual mono & filter option , hard to beat on my busses ..

I love this comp! I use Mixbus so the console thing is kinda overkill. I do like the idea of individual channels with character. I’d think very much a console “sound”....

It took me a while to get into the VSC 2, I've owned it for a long time but just recently started using it a lot. I think when I first got it, I was trying to hit it to hard, but lately I've been liking it a lot on the mix in dual mono.

You're not the only one. It's totally changed my workflow

which controller do you use?

I don't use any. I love the idea of softube console 1 but using Pro Tools it's not ideal due to limitations. I'd absolutely love a controller that just looked like the Brainworx channel and could be used for E, G and N.

I had the vsc-2 but sold it in the end.
In comparison to an ssl quad compressor it´s softer and less grabby
on transients which I don´t like.

I know the vertigo guys and tried the analog original back in the days -
same thing with the original.

The ssl quad compressor is such a classic and dynamic sound
which works through many genres.
Very much looking forward to plugin alliance´s version of it.

At the moment I´m using the slate fg-grey which is a compromise
since it has a modelled transformer, which I can´t deactivate and it´s not AAX DSP
nor does it map on my d-command.

For the Quad : Duende

vsc2 is nice, but for electronic music I prefer Elysia Alpha Master.

Who said to not use both

Usually the Alpha is on my master , or stuffi want to control erratic transients or to much left right movement via the exellent clipper also ...
The vsc2 is handling busses and sub group also very well on demand ....

I do think the vsc 2 and the alpha are one of the best PA releases in term of emus

Yea Alpha is big. but it's fu king ugly. this blue potis.. I dont get it.
