Actually Paul admits on the forums that all his old modules should of had attenuators but they haven't, its something he is correcting in his "New" future releases.

Also there's tap tempo by using one of the internal modules to replace something.

Ive looked HERE and syncing to tempo isn't as straight forward as Chronolob.

Most people will be using a computer, so there is a midi clock pre-set.....very straight forward.
The other interesting thing about the Roland EFX modules is you can comprehensively modify them using Roland's software module builder.

At around 13.50 on the sonicstate vid of the Aira gear he also tells you to just reconfigure one of the inputs to accept a pulse / trigger gate whatever and that'll convert to clock, from what I've read and seen there's a few ways to achieve it either gate or midi or tap, tap tempo on anything fx related is always great in my book as you can make your own divisions on the fly and then flip back to a more normal time anytime you are ready.

I'm still amazed how little I see in threads about these modules, they are totally configurable and once I get my rack running I'll be owning the demora immediately, the modular internals are like a very small Reaktor and a delay can actually be many things non delay related.

My delay units are Flame FX16, QuBit RT60, and Synthrotek Eko. The Eko sees the most use. Fine-tuning the delay is a b*tch because of the large range, but it's worth the fight because it's got a lot of character.

I'm curious to see how you end up liking it. It seems those if us that have one and actually like it are in the minority. It's a filter, but with a whole lotto nasty.

Had the analog replicator, was kind of disappointed. It felt like the internal filtering of the repeated signal and bbd clock noise was tuned to a rather narrow 50's sf movie type of sound (I guess typical of pittsburgh modulator aesthetics, so I concede the fairness in this nevertheless). In terms of craziness I prefer the Doepfer BBD without built in filtering. The Chronoblob doesn't not have a very specific sound of its own, but the modulation alternatives are extensive. hi-fi if you want too, but just throw in a polivoks filter in the feedback chain or create interesting self-feedback stuff using clock dividers and rectifiers and you are set to go.

What's the name/numbersize/whatever/etc of Eurorack type screws? And where can I buy them? Because I've misplaced a bunch of them, and also because Tom at Analogue Solutions is TOO CHEAP to send them with his modules (I have a handful of ASol modules - all of them bought new and none of which came with any screws - **** that ****, seriously) I would like to order some.

Also, I've been meaning to start using those nice little rubber rings to protect faceplates from screw marks / rack rash - where can I buy these and what are they called?

That does look pretty perfect. I've never seem them this side of the pond though. I want to see how the strymon generalissimo turns out. Looks like it could be a beast.

Be careful. The screws differ between case manufacturers. M3 and M2.5 are the most common, there are even M4 screws. And the length may be important too if the screws are bottoming out before they secure the panel. Tiptop HEK rail screws don't fit with the sliding nuts in my Monorocket and it's obvious when I use the wrong screw.

I think Control has a bunch of different screw types and I'd suggest buying a pack of 50 for peace of mind. The manufacturers don't always send the 'right' screws when they include them and it's nice to know you can lose a few along the way - they do work loose in transit sometimes.

The face palm wasn't for you Cane, it was for my case which uses 2.5mm nut sliders, even though every single module I've gotten has come with 3mm screws...

The mention of Tom from ASol not including screws made me think of this: Modular pet peeves! What pisses you off the most in modular land? In no particular order, mine are:

1. Not including screws. This should be a sin. I have extra screws, but that's not the point. The point is that one of these days, I'm not going to have extra screws and I'll have to buy more. This sucks, but to me this isn't as bad as...

2. Not including ribbon cables. I'm shocked when this happens. I literally want to see the seller stoned to death when they don't include power cables.

3. Unlabeled power orientation on non-keyed PCB's. I just fried my 4075 because there's no labeling saying where the red stripe or where -12v is and all the modules surrounding it were red stripe up. SE has offered to fix it for free thankfully, but I still think they really should have labeled it. This in turn leads me to...

4. Modules without reverse power protection. Usually you screw up the power, no harm no foul. Either there's no power at all, or other modules in the system act visibly weird. But as was the case with the 4075, all the other modules are acting fine and you don't realize something's wrong until the room starts smelling funky.

5. Shipping the wrong ribbon cable. This happens way too often for my liking. Either it'll have the wrong pinout (I recently got a ten-to-ten cable for a module so not even Euro-compatible) or as was the case with Trouby, they sent me one that was flipped upside down (ten to sixteen with the sixteen pin side upside down.)

6. Builders installing the power header upside down. This one isn't that big a deal because I can just flip the ribbon and install it in my Doepfer power supply that isn't keyed, but it does mean that I do have a stray oscillator module in a rack that was supposed to be all filters.

7. Sliding nuts on rails. I can't state enough just how much I hate these frelling things.

8. Odd module widths. When nearly everything else out there is made in widths in multiples of two, why the hell would anyone decide to make modules that are 21hp wide? The hell am I supposed to do with that odd space out? Waste valuable space with a blank!?

Sounds like you ended up with them Synthrotek rails. Those are an absolute nightmare. I love Synthrotek, I constantly find myself using/buying/lusting for their modules, but those are the worst rails I've ever used. Sliding nuts should be outlawed.

I have the powered waterproof 7U case and I absolutely love it (admittedly the smaller-than normal screws are a bother) but I am ignorant to other cases and what they feature. Who does it better and how do they do it?

I'm with you on odd-HP modules too, it's just dumb. I have an Piston Honda MK II that I am selling for a few reasons, one of them being that it won't fit into my case plan at 17HP or whatever it is because I couldn't find another odd-HP module that I wanted.

I wouldn't call it a one trick pony. In fact it probably has a wider sound generation palette than anything else in the price/size range. Between any of my oscillators and rings, I would find it extremely difficult to cover the sounds that Mysteron is capable of producing easily.

God damn those expert sleepers disting are a true weapon for the size they use up aren't they? I'm surprised I don't read more about it as its a right old chameleon! A few of them inline and you've solved a lot of problems, least of all the hz/volt conversion boom

I stand corrected. Looks like Control and AH both have preorders up. Not sure how I feel about preordering the first module from such a new designer.

I haven't seen any other waterproof cases outside of DIY, but looking at it, it looks to be their standard 84hp rails. If that's the case, you can swap them out with some TipTop rails where they use m3 screws and a threaded strip instead of sliding nuts.

Agreed with one exception: I like modules that can work independently of each other but can also be expanders to each other. The Jupiter Storm and Galilean Moons modules are a great example of this. Tapped into each other, the Jupiter Storm feeds audio signals to the Galilean Moons, but the normalization can be overridden to feed whatever you want to the Galilean Moons. If left unconnected, they can be run independently as their own modules.

Stuff like the Pressure Points/Brains thing? Yeah, that's asinine. They knew when they made that that they wanted to make it into a sequencer.

It's the 104hp but yeah I'd love nut strips over sliders...
