Signal in like the gain staging for the channel. Think of it like a preamp level on a mixer. The gain is the initial volume level. The CV controls start the VCA from this level. It sounds kinda asinine I know, but if you're using it as a mixer instead of a strict VCA bank, it's actually kinda awesome.
shucks, it seems a little redundant. I'm looking for something to use as a strict VCA bank, without the offset it wont do what I want. (the mixer element isn't something I'm seeing at the moment, but was a plus if I came across a use)

just to be clear that we're talking about the same thing, bias/offset, what it does:
lets say the CV input is an LFOΒ±5v, the CV attenuation can make this LFO Β±2.5v, the bias/offset +2.5v can add voltage to this signal to make it 0-5v (this would give a deep tremolo)
OR
lets say the CV input is a LFO 0-5v, the CV attenuation can make this LFO 0-1v, and the bias/offset +4v can add voltage to this signal to make it 4-5v. (this would give a very light tremolo)
the A-135-1 CAN'T do that???
