Anyone heard the One25a and Footprint 03?

Depends on your room size. I moved from MM45 to One18s, and didn't lose anything in the process, but that was also because my room dimensions shrunk with that transition. Your mileage may vary.

MM45 is a very good monitor. Amphion in general is going to be playing more in that range of performance (even better, in my opinion), whereas the FP line is a different performance bracket. If tracking/producing is your main priority and you don't necessarily need the cream of the mix translation crop, then I think FP line will serve you well.

moved to one18’s less than a year ago and am loving them to bits! end of this year though i’ll be buying a house and moving to a smaller room.

i’m coming from a 6.5 x 3.5 x 2.4m room (LxWxH) with a ~1.7m listening triangle setup. not sure what new room dimensions will be but guaranteed to be smaller, realistically 3.5x3.5m ish.

worried about having the space to give one18’s room to breathe, and i don’t really want to go back to maining NS10’s. anyone halved their room size and moved down from one18’s to one15’s?

I’ve used 18s and 15s extensively, in a small room sat very close to the speakers the 15s are much better. 18s are almost like midfields in terms of the placement they do best in, 15s are great super close

What listening distance are you thinking?
One15s are best if you can touch them I reckon. In my studio they are in a 1m triangle.
Out in my lounge I’ve tried them a few times for fun at about a 2.4m triangle. They were nowhere near as engaging. Sounded alright. But not great.

i’ve always liked a bit of distance between myself and monitors, historically always gone for at least 1.5m even with ns10s. seems to give space for sound to converge and feels more cohesive.

that said, in a smaller room i don’t think i’ll have the space, or will run into issues with acoustics. therefore i assume i’ll have to go more nearfield positioning, 1m or so…

obviously it’s a bit hypothetical until i’m in the space, just wanted to see if anyone had been in the same position and successfully downsized to one15’s!

My room is 4x3m with the One15s a bit less than 1m apart. I also sit inside the equilateral triangle.

The squareness of the new room is going to be your main contention. Kind of a crapshoot with square rooms, you just sort of have to play with parameters you can in that room and find the best balance you can between multiple compromises. You sort of just have to load the room up with whatever treatment you can, mess with the speaker placement/distance, room correct with software, and then never move from whatever small "sweet" spot you can find in the geometry of the space when you're working.

You're not going to find perfect, but One15 may give you a bit more flexibility and a better chance at finding that good-enough sweet spot than the One18.

Does anyone have their One15s (or other Ampions) with ears at roughly tweeter level? For the longest time, I had mine higher up so that my ears were more so at the acoustical axis (between the woofer and tweeter) and recently moved them around to where they now sit lower and my ears are at tweeter level. Believe it or not, in my space, this actually works much better. I have a smaller room, which I think naturally accentuates the low end, even though it's fairly well treated. So I think it works better to balance that out with more of the tweeter clarity. I also use a Trinnov and get much better results with it this way. My mixes are translating better too.

I'm sure there are plenty of situations where having the speakers higher up works better, but I just wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else likes them a little lower.

I usually start around eye level with the tweeter, and then by way of slouch I eventually end up at the axis. Seems to work for my mixes, not so much for my lower back.

The acoustic center of the One15 is tweeter pointed at ear level in order to get the correct frequency response as amphion intended. Watch their video regarding monitor placement….

That's for the Two series. Here's what they say in the description of that video:

One Series (One12, One15, One18) units can be orientated either vertically or horizontally. However, their acoustical centre-points are located midway between the tweeter and woofer.

After spending more time with them oriented the way they are now, I will continue to use them with the tweeters at around ear height in my space since I'm getting the best results that way.

re: horizontal / vertical position for the One15 : does anyone have some experience with them horizontal ? tweeter in or out ? It may be a smart move in my new room to switch from vertical to horizontal position due to room height and depth / treatment / furniture / monitor stands, but I'd love to hear from you guys.

I always had my one15 up a bit, ears at driver level for a nice, full picture.

I did try horizontal for a little minute and whilst at first it's not horrid ( I had tweeters out) it still didn't feel as comfy as vertical.

Im getting some One 18 (used). I hope they get shipped today. Man I can´t wait to have them in my new room.

You are right - One @ between tweeter and driver, Two @ tweeter ear level. My fault.

No worries! And I'm sure it really is room dependent too. Also, I use a Trinnov, and I'm beginning to wonder if for some reason it plays nicer with being more at tweeter level. It corrects for phase response, and it might be thrown off when getting more woofer and less tweeter.

I’m using the Two18 with a Neumann KH750 sub, but am using a Trinnov Nova not MA1. I would definitely say it doesn’t need a sub to hear the low end, but I already had the KH750 and it does help clean up the mid range and improve the imaging, depending on where you set the crossover (I have mine set to 92Hz). I also have it just set high enough to just hear the low end get filled out with a little extension.

The default MA1 crossover is set at 80Hz.

I’ve been told by Amphion support it was the bottom of the waveguide, so speaker center.

“With the One12, One15, and One18 the acoustic centre point is indeed in the middle of the speaker (between the bass driver/waveguide), so we recommend lining it to your ear level.This also allows them to be used both horizontally and vertically without a change in sound.”

The horizontal and vertical dispersion is different though for any asymmetric design.

If you have them vertical, then the horizontal sweet spot is wider. So if you’re moving sideways but at the same height (rolling on a chair for example) you have a bit better response.

When the monitors are horizontal, then moving side to side causes you to get closer/further from the tweeter relative to the mid driver. Thats not great for frequency or time response.

But if you don’t move side to side it’s fine. And might move the monitors to a height that causes less modes in the room, so could be better in limited cases.

I tend to move sideways more than I do up and down. So found vertical works best for me.

I agree. I work ITB, so there’s little head movement, and I don’t have phase issues with a horizontal setup.

I so wish they make a One22A quick. The One25A really is too much cost, weight, power for smaller room.

An absolute monster would be a One28A !

I've heard the One25a in a ridiculously small untreated room and they sounded stunning even at the lowest volume

I can imagine but seriously these speakers are massively huge and would stare you in the face in such a small room. I would not be comfortable with them worrying if a blast of loudness came out of these near my hearing..

Speaking of stunning sounding: upper limit of 55 (!??) KhZ... is that for real?

If they build a One22A selling at 8K with the same stunningness it would be killer.
