All,

ULTIMATE ALL DIGITAL SYSTEM = PRO TOOLS|HD+NUENDO+LOGIC PRO+PYRAMIX+88D!!!!

One day I was daydreaming in Audio Fantasy Land, & this vision came to mind. A room designed by Andy Munro with 8.1 Dynaudio main monitors was the location of this dream. In it was a mega 'All Digital' system made up of max'ed out Pro Tools|HD, Nuendo, Logic Pro, & Pyramix systems with multiple node PC's & G5's. These grandious systems were digitally summed via an AMS-Neve 88D all digital console. Any comments on the vision?

One thing; how about all summed by an ANALOG Neve!?

Yeah analogue tape is good too. I'd have two, or three 2" 24/16 track machines plus a 1" two track machine over in the corner somewhere. But for this room once things got into the world of digital they'd stay there until final D/A. I'd talk about an analogue dream on another thread.

How much is this "88D" anyway?

Leave Lindell alone..his board is find and he's great at using it. No need to upgrade to something designed for scoring.

Yeah there is. The 88RS is sonically better than the VXS. But the VX's in my opinion were never a bad console. It's just that there's better out there. Regarding the AMS-Neve 88D check with AMS-Neve. Price might depend upon who you are, & how much repeat business you give them. The LA office probably covers you(Phoenix, AZ).

The truth of the matter is that I've turned down more opportunities to do work in such environments as what you've mentioned earlier due to the fact that I'm heavily involved in alot of entrepreur/management roles lately. It seems everytime I make plans to take a month, or so to do a project 'hands on' something comes up. I miss the time behind the big board. So. I try to stay on top of things by interacting with my colleagues that are 'hands on'. Believe this. Definatly done my share of work on the big boards. Running engineering sessions, not being the runner as you've implied.

But you've got the right to test me. Just continue to look out for re-posts of your quotes from this thread, & the one from the GM thread when I give notice on new 88D comissionings, & etc.. History usually proves me right about new products. Are you afraid that I'm right. In the long term it might prove embarassing to you. Any how I think that the AMS-Neve 88D is going to be a successful product. I mean what other desk out there digitally will allows you to integrate Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Nuendo, & Pyramix control into one system completely in the digital realm while giving you access to more channels than any one of these system normally offers?

I suggest that you purchase one and let us know how it is when you have done so. In the meantime I suggest you lay low a bit on what I think is starting to look like a not so subtle way to get the AMS-Neve 88D name mentioned as much as possible on these forums. If you have usefull information based on facts and personal experience that would actually contribute to the general interest of this forum then please share it with us.

In the meantime I'm going to lock this as it is my personal feeling (and that of others) that this is not the case.
