Those emulations don't write themselves.
My point is very simply about the timing of this, and the lack of grace period for new users.
Let's consider how other software vendors deal with their major updates:
Ableton Live has a major upgrade due in the new year, and they are now not only offering a discount on the current version, but anyone who purchases v9 currently will get a free upgrade to v10 when itβs released in Q1 2018 too. Thatβs 4+ months grace period.
Likewise when Spectrasonics released Omnisphere 2, there was a free upgrade for anyone whoβd purchased v1 in the previous six months (or more IIRC).
Both of those were major version upgrades, but they show a lot of respect for their users and provide a very reasonable solution for new users so they wonβt lose out on purchasing now.
I had no idea a major update was due for the V collection. Clearly any reasonable person, if they knew a major upgrade was imminent, would have waited a month to buy it? I certainly would have if Iβd known that v6 was due. This is made even worse when I see people on forums such as this saying theyβre still on v3 which has been out for *years* and they have been offered the same upgrade pricing as a brand new user such as myself whoβs only just bought it a month ago..
I've barely had a few hours use from it yet so I think I have every right to feel a bit cheesed off!
