I had an original Easel. Fun but my 200 was more my thing. I'd still like this though.

For sure! I just preferred the older sound on the 258 oscillators. The Easel is great but a simple 5 step sequencer, 1 VCO, 1 Envelope etc make it quite simple but still as many things Buchla, still deep and interesting and this seems to have a full arpeggiator in the keyboard.
This is certainly going to be great for taking around with you.

So far the stars of 2013 namm are two classics IMO.

I never understood the hype around Buchla. However my ears have come around and now I absolutely love the sounds you can get from them. Starting a Buchla system is on my radar for sure. Just not sure when. This might be a good start though.

Sooooo, is the model number of the Easel module 208e...? Because if the knob coloring follows the Buchla convention, the "e" means it is programmable from the 225e or 206e modules in a Buchla boat.

I had flight time with an original Easel. Took some time to get my head around the Buchla concept of synthesis, but it was a cool machine once I got the hang of it.

I doubt you could build everything included inside the Easle (208 + 218e)
+case and power for less than $4k. It's a smoking deal. I'm frankly

Now, whether or not this would actually give you a similar sound and features to a Buchla 208 is a matter of debate, and the 218e touch plate keyboard appears to contain some features that would be difficult to obtain elsewhere.
