That's a lot of features for $499.

The sequencer is no slouch either at that price point. Per Sweetwater page:
Quote:
Creative performance options let you set scale, direction, first/last step, and shuffle mode. Onboard memory is available for 128 sequence patterns and 16 songs — each with up to 16 parts.

Oh no...

EDIT: not really hating, but there's very little finger space if this is the form factor. I would actually have been okay with smaller diameter knobs.

EDIT2: forgot about the lack of pitch/mod strips... so it's not too bad.

This is the goofiest thing. Is it April 1st? A SE clone of a minimoog by Roland? Out of all the things not needed at this point they went with a minimoog instead of a VCO SH boutique

Cue the haters... well done for hating it first.

Form factor doesn't really bother me, personally.

I'm not interested in playing The Rockford Files opening credit tune all day every day.

Here's the main thing: CV/Gate input.

Just can't wait to hear it.
Studio Electronics are FAR more qualified to do Minimoog territory than Behringer. SE have been making those MidiMini's and SE-1's since forever.

EDIT: The last thing on earth I thought I would ever see was Studio Electronics' sequel to the SE-1 be a Roland collaboration. What is this timeline?

I don't think anyone saw the Malekko collab coming either.

Now I want to see a boutique SH2 as well.

This is an incredibly impressive feat.

Anyone who's ever worked at a large corporation is aware of the massive lead times to bring something to market. Roland obviously saw the D and thought it was a good idea and needed it out first. They then thought of Studio Electronics who would already have the knowledge to build it, albeit in a shrunken form.

My mind boggles with all the legal, regulatory and financial work that must have gone on behind the scenes for the last several months.

Bravo Roland!

They do have one more synth to reveal today. Let's hope it's something like that and not a desktop System-8 or something.

so....small....always one thing.

The 16 step sequencer is cool. Still don't understand why they went for Moog clone instead of a Roland unit.\

It has a delay too- nice.

Not a single mention of Moog Music, Minimoog, or "parts cost" anywhere, FWIW.

And soon we'll get a new thread called Roland SE-02 is dead as Moog claims infringement!

Seriously though, I hope they sell a ton of 'm. I think the target audience going for a Mother-32 should be different enough anyway (and both are so cheap, so ¿por qué no los dos?)

Aha, well you see, this is the SE-02. It's NOT a clone of the Minimoog (wink wink) it's a sequel to the SE-1.
