Reverb.Com announces top-selling synths and drum machines of 2019
Our friends at Reverb.Com have recently announced their best selling synths of 2019, and the results are quite interesting to say the least! Without any further ado, let’s get to it:
Overall best sellers
Vintage (pre-2000) best sellers
New best sellers
A few notes:
* Reverb’s comment elucidates some key aspects of the overall best sellers list: "The ranking of overall bestsellers includes both new and used sales on Reverb, and in this instance, it's fair to say that our data is probably a bit different from the market at large, given how much used gear sells on our site. For instance, the Teenage Engineering OP-1 taking the top slot is likely the result of the limited availability of new inventory for this model at different points in the year, which helped fuel demand in the used market. Similarly, Reverb likely sells fewer new Behringers than gear sites that only sell new instruments, given how many buyers rely on long pre-orders for those units. Exceptions like this aside, though, when we separate out just new and used sales, the overall list tends to stay more or less the same."
* The absence of Roland products on the overall best sellers list is worthy of note, and we can only wonder why the famed Japanese manufacturer hasn’t made the cut. On the other hand, it not only tops but thoroughly dominates the vintage best sellers list.
* The other big name from Japan, Korg, has racked up six entries on the overall best sellers list, with the "logue" and Volca series enjoying a great deal of success.
* Behringer has certainly established its market presence on this segment with two entries on the overall best sellers list and two more on the new products top ten. The brand's aggressive strategy seems to be paying off.
* With the exception of the Teenage Engineering OP-1, which has its price momentarily inflated due to manufacturing restrictions, all the entries on the overall best sellers list are well below the $1000 price point. Budget-consciouslutz?
* It’s interesting to see a eurorack module (Make Noise Maths) making it to the overall best sellers top ten, not to mention the number five slot being taken by the Moog Mother 32, a standalone synth that can also serve as a gateway to modular.
