Hey all,

Curious if anyone is having problems saving / recalling workspaces - Globally or per project. .

Seems that when I create a windows setup, save it as a workspace template, and then work in the project everything is great. Alt+# works as a shortcut for all the workspaces I've created, etc. No problems.

However - shut down Nuendo, open it again....workspaces gone. I'm saving my templates to the Global side, locking them, assigning IDs, trying every single thing to get them to save, but they always just disappear. So I end up having to create new workspaces for every project.

Anyone else having this problem? Or is there perhaps a setting that I'm missing? Looking through the manual I seem to following everything correctly...it seems anyway.

It's not the brightest concept, agreed, but that said, I suspect pilot error, sorry.
Global WS can be accessed from any project, but unless you have saved a WS with a certain project (left side) it won't be available.
We've been requesting a truly global/systemwide set of WS* since the SX days, we got LoopMash and a zoomable mixer which is basically non-integrated in WS at all.

Yep - absolutely pilot error. Got it to work last night. Holy hell that could far more streamlined...and glad to know other users have been complaining. Not sure why, but on this new system of mine (Windows 8.1 now) windows management has been all over the place (example: pool window always defaulting to full screen - across 2 monitors, no matter where I've set to to previously), so I decided to start using workspaces to set ideal pool size.

Seems workspaces also highlights another problem - that the mixer channels are arbitrarily given whatever width Nuendo is in the mood for. Like popping up the fullscreen mixer on one windows, only to have it zoomed into 2 channels to give 1/2 foot wide channel width. Other times it's fully zoomed out...regardless of what I had it set to last time it was opened. Always a nice surprise to see what the zoom lottery brings. And of course the focus seems arbitrary - but that's a whole other issue that seems well documented in these forums.

ok, great you figured it out !

A few little tricks to beat them into shape, most of them should still work in N6.x, up to C6.5 they made for smooth sailing, the flaws in C7.x are specific to that miscreation of a mixer, not the WS per se.
Try them, even if they don't make obvious sense at first glance, this is the Twilight Zone after all.
- always save them locked
- stretch the main window across your screens, do not maximise it !
- mixer not full screen, not AOT !
- plugins should be AOT however !
- leave at least one pixel of space around each child window, everywhere !
- you can use macros to recall the WS, to work around certain bugs and limitations
- consider assigning single key KCs or dedicated controller buttons, the easier you can recall them, the more useful they become

- apparently the erratic mixer zoom (aka Kermit) cannot be fixed without a complete rewrite, as admitted by Steinberg here :
