You're right about not saying anything about nudging A&B, I misread your original post.

As far as nulling or not, help me understand how you are getting it to null in PT. I agree I am getting no sound at all, unless I turn my monitor control up all the way, then I can hear some vocal and guitar. Also, as far as the meters are concerned, I think it was you who originally alluded to science being absolute and not magic.

I admit I have only done a couple of null tests in my life, so, nothing personal, just help me understand.

By the way, to SPENCER, did I miss the part where you told us all which file has the M-Patch on it? I am curious to know. If you don't want to tell everybody yet, ...

Maybe I'm asking whether or not you came to the conclusion that the files null by "ear" or by looking at the meters in PT.

If you're saying you pressed play for 10 seconds and didn't turn up to volume to the max or use a meter or plugin to "see" the null, then I guess your opinion is no better than the first opinion I gave about Track B sounding slightly degraded in the mid-range compared to Track A.

You passed around info as if it were fact, and had a whole lot of people thinking that something was wrong with Cubase or PT. I can't believe you would go so far as continuing this facade for 5+ pages... Please prove me wrong Sigma! Tell me you have solid proof PT nulls these files!

meters showed nothing ..ears heard nothing with gain cranked enough to blow my speakers if the song actually played audio ..full 100% gain..what more do you want me to say..i can't say it any other way

his files were named A B and original ..THEY import as THOSE names so there could be no mistaking diff files

One person is getting a perfect null, no one else isn't. Computer geek telling he files are different. One guy saying with clear arguments you CAN'T possibly make the files to null. Some with better ears than mine are even hearing the differences. Following the scientific principles you can only make one conclusion.

I think there's no need to continue this discussion any further.

Can you re-run the test and option click the "vol" on the aux track and look at the "pk" (peak) values. If the value doesn't read negative infinity, then it is not a full null, even if you don't hear anything. I've already explained why the meters won't show anything (because the audio is lower than -60dbfs).
