Looking to get the best phaser for my Rhodes, Clavinet, guitar, bass. Leaning toward the musitronics bi phase anything else I should be aware of?

bit pricier - but I love the Moog phaser pedal (i bought all the pedals last year - great things, but at a price!!). One of the nice things is keeping the LFO still and manually moving the phase position - GREAT for controlled sweeps in recording!

Have you checked out the Red Witch Deluxe Moon Phase? I don't own it but I have friends that do & they love it. It can get pretty radical if you need it to. I use the MJM Vibe for those type of tones. I found a vibe pedal fits my music style more then a phaser.

+1 Strymon pedals are awesome! Timeline could be one of the best delay pedals available. I know they make a flanger & chorus/vibe but I don't think they make a phaser... I may be wrong though.

oops you're right, they don't make a phaser... sorry ! But they still look like darn cool pedals!

+1. The Moog Phaser is milky smooth like nothing else. I'll never part with mine.

I'm also interested in the Pigtronix Envelope Phaser and the EHX Stereo Polyphase. Yeah, I'd love an old MuTron Bi-Phase, but I don't see that becoming a spending priority any time soon.

No such thing as the best phaser... There are at least 3 different ways of creating and animating the phase shift and each sounds slightly different. You have to try them and see what you like. The most flexible for individual sounds is probably the Toneczar but the Pigtronix and the Moog, while only offering a single sound at a time have a lot of other options that can be used to integrate them with other systems. But for just phasing, it's hard to be better than a Small Stone or a Phase 90!

i like phase 90. i tried the small stone, it's cool and deep but it's not for me.
i'd say go classic! it's always the best course of action.

have you ever thought about a univibe-style pedal?
lots of people think phaser but they really mean vibe.

Moooooog! You could also look after vintage Rolands, on the used market. Jet Phaser and ap-2 sounds really cool.

And there's also the Effectrode phaser. All the Effectrode pedals kill. I had the Vibe Chorus and it was just super rich and syrupy.

I too own a Rhodes and am a huge fan of phasers. I have the complete set of Electro Harmonix Small Stones from the American versions from the 70's to the 80's versions of the Russian made ones.

My personal favorite is the American V4. The one right before they switched over to surface mount technology in the nano.

BUT out of all the V4's that I own, the best one would be the American V4 Analogman.

They don't make the V4's but they're easy to find. To find an Analogman American V4 is EVEN harder to find. There are better features on that also.

Regardless of the model, all of the small stones are easy to use, easy to setup, and are very butter creamy. I prefer the small stone with the color switch down.

The other phaser of choice would be the MXR Phase 90. I have both block and script versions both reissues. I prefer the Script version with the LED on it because it's more subtle than the block version of today.

I got info from Classic Rhodes Effects, took their advice and went with it. I made a pretty good call on it and it turns out the way they're voiced, the Rhodes sounds fantastic through it. No matter when the Rhodes was made, either a 70's rhodes or a new 2009-2012 Rhodes, those pedals will sound great.

My favorite is Fender Phaser, and the old Boss PH-1r

I recently aquired a Small Stone V4 and have modded it to take a normal power supply. I like it as an effect but the volume drop and the loss of high end is abit too severe, so I'm currently modding it.

The sweep, however, is beautiful. It just needs a little TLC from Mr. Solder to make it perfect.

From leftfield: the soundblox phaser is great, but not even the phaser. Setting 1 is a model of an unspecified leslie cab, delicious. You should try a wah as a freq booster too.

4ms Pedals: Phaseur Fleur

The MXR Van Halen Phaser is good - basically it is a Script Phase 90 but you can switch to a stronger phase effect for more modern stuff. I thought the Red Witch Moon Phase was really cool, and being a New Zealand product I was very biased towards buying it - but I compared it with the MXR and had to take the MXR ... seems i'm not the only one to fall in love with the MXR sound ...

Chase Bliss Audio is releasing their Wombtone phaser very soon. It's a digitally controlled analog phaser that's packed with many features.

Script versions of the Phase 90 and Phase 45 are awesome. As are old Small Stones.

But my all-time phase crush is definitely the Mu-tron Phaser. Great, deep, all-consuming sweep and swirl. Not for every application, but when you want to fill the room with a gooey tide so thick that it feels like walking in a vat of taffy, it's the only way to phase.

I had the Small Stone for a while, but the Phase 45 was much more what I had in mind. Now I have the Maestro Stage Phaser, more adjustable.

I'm digging the Empress lately, wish it did more stages though....
