Looking for a phaser? You should check out the VFE Enterprise. Great versatility and tones from a small footprint. Excellent customer service from Peter. Most high ly recommended.
v4 Small stone for me.. its a thing of beauty!!! colour in the down position and rate between 1/4 and 1/2.... i use it in the studio so the loss of volume is no biggy.. i don't mind those small orange mxr phasers but it aint no small stone..
I really dig the EVH90, but EVH is such a ****** lately, I find it difficult to actually want to give him any cut of money, regardless of how good he is, or the product with his name on it.
The VFE and EQD are both compelling, so I'll be checking those out. The TC just didn't work for me. It felt a bit too sterile.
I have to admit the color scheme and association with EVH is a bit of a downer, but the EVH90 really is a great phaser. It's basically switchable script or block Phase 90 with a modern power jack. I think MXR would have been better just to release it without the EVH associaton - but I guess some people are attracted to that.
Best is context specific ... I generally don't like strong chewy phasers, so I ignore anything more than 4 pole. But I really like the subtle sound of 2 pole phasers like the MXR Phase 45. I don't like the non-standard power supply ... i'm surprised there aren't more 2 pole phasers on the market ...
Ideally - I would have an MXR that could switch between a script Phase 45 and script Phase 90. That would be something ...
