OK, I got the Tape Mode worked out, silly me for thinking it was some kind of tape emulation, it links the pitch to the playback speed as a tape machine would. Kinda obvious really. Still not totally clear about the other knobs.
Any feedback on the envelopes suggestion?

You nailed it, it is a "vari-speed", lengthen the time = pitch goes down, shorten the time = pitch goes up.

I'm having a lot of fun with this, it's a great plugin. Keeps the integrity of the sound (if you want it to. )

As I am always looking for tools with special and unique abilities, I find TS to be an exceptional addition to the toolbox.

Aside from it's high quality sound in general application, the 'Remix' functions and realtime MIDI allow some very exciting directions in creating distinctive variations of an audio source (at least 8 hours of material processed so far and still discovering new and interesting possibilities!)

With the gracious intro price, instant no-brainer for me ;-)

I dont know what IRCAM plans on doing, but I know with Vienna Suite, whenever they added a new component to the package, they gave it to current users for free, but raised the price of the package to reflect the new additions. I've always LOVED this philosophy of rewarding initial customers, yet the company still gets compensated through the additional price for new users (and if the additions are substantial it does bring in new customers).

It would be nice to know an official stance though, as a plugin would be much easier in my workflow vs a standalone app.

I am having an odd issue with TS whereby selecting the preferences or the "about" menu item not only locks one out of the program, but also does not display either the preferences or the "about" info. Only way out of the 'lock' is to quit the program. Any ideas?

Thanks Loopy C for the suggestion...alas it did not work....but good little app all the same. Was able to track down the problem (as odd as it seems). I have a folder in my dock that holds all the audio editing software that i use....one nice convenient location.....all other software ( when launched from this dock location) starts and functions correctly. TS does not. Why this is the case i know not. It doesn't seem to like being in a folder on the Dock? touchy touchy.

Strange, folders on the dock I thought were just shortcuts to a regular HD location of folder. I actually initially ran TS from another drive! with no problem...must be a OSX version-specific issue (I am using TS on 10.8.5).

Yes very strange....Only application to have ever acted in this way.....i've been using the dock in this way for years...

Did we ever get word on how long the intro pricing will last? Last I heard was "mid October." Hopefully there is some warning before the price goes up?

I think that means mid-November-ish in DC time, if their $50 P&M bundle sale is any indication.

That ran a week or so over the end of Sept. and well over the "only 5000 limited special blowout licenses" they touted to run the numbers up.

This is a different deal, though… so who knows?

I'm on the fence, since it seems a little buggy and indefinite as far as Windows and plug-in development goes.

We should all know to buy based on what something is now, rather than what it's promised to be.

Maybe this will be a good gamble as far as future development goes, though.

They should just hold it at this price until the Windows standalone version is available.

if you want the plugin version right now, you can buy ircam trax from dontcrack on sale was $400 now $150. it does not do time operations since it is not a DAW. it does pitch operations and the noise/sinus/transient operations as well as some other more easy to use tools for dialogue shaping. anyone with protools, logic, izotope rx etc.. already has time stretching tools that work great for solo instruments. I have not ever done time stretching comparisons on stereo mixed program material. maybe someone with TS can do a side by side comparison. I noticed TS is very similar to another older and more expensive ircam product, AudioSculpt. there is no information on the audiosculpt product page or forum that compares the features of audiosculpt to ircam ts. from what I can find, the cross synthesis is only available in trax as a plugin, audiosculpt as a mac only DAW or command line scripting, IRCAMAX as programming toolkit for ableton + max for live.

I also noticed that Audiosculpt was updated to 3.3.4 on Dec 1st 2014. I will probably buy trax since it is a little cheaper and I would use the plugin more than audiosculpt.

if IRCAM would please post a comparison showing the differences between TS and Audiosculpt I would appreciate it. such a comparison should include system requirements, price in USD, full feature list. I feel like I have been collecting this information from different places. some of my observations may not be accurate so please correct me.
