TDR Feedback Compressor II - beta just started!!

Heya Fabien!

Keen to give this compressor a try! Unfortunately the plug-in isn't showing up in either Cubase 6.07 x86 or Studio One 2.5 x86 on Win7 x64 .. I also tried to load it in the VST Plug-in Analyser which couldn't load it either!

I grabbed Proximity recently and that works fine so not sure what's happening?

ohw yes, it seems I messed up the 64bit build yesterday. I get a scanning error in several DAW when trying to load the 64bit version.

However, the 32bit version seems to work fine in cubase 6, you're really sure about the x86 version?

Good job again.

But when saving a project with plugin in reaper 4.31 32bit on Win7 makes it crash here.

Version 1.0.0 and Proximity are working fine btw.

OMG, issues after issues ... but I guess that's what beta's are for

it was a long day yesterday and it seems I messed up several things at once. The 64bit build is clearly broken and most DAWs should report a scanning problem. The 32bit zip on the other hand contained the wrong dll version from mid December (shame on me).

So, as first step, I removed the 64bit download from my page and updated the 32bit package. Pls delete previous versions of the FB Compressor II and download it again. I am particularly interested to hear if the crash still happens with the latest version.

Lol, well I was using 32bit's last night and I thought it was working and sounding good. I dl the new version now.

Oh, it wasn't that bad, except the small SC filter bug.

However, the "correct" version also has 15 presets!

The default setting seems pretty straight forward for what i was using. I usually just set the threshhold a bit till it starts sounding better. Usually quicken the release and it sounds good.

Hi Fabien, I use Fxpansion Vst to Rtas, the first version has presets, but the new one (at least the one I downloaded) has no presets. What´s wrong?

Great news - been using the x64 without knowing about the issue. Had only one crash (Cubase 7) but it didn't happen so I kept using it!

It sounds great, even better than the first one. Looking forward to the updates!

I also had an error message when trying to open it on Reaper 4.31/ (win XP). Tried change dll name, install it again, etc ... doensn´t make difference.it also doens´t appear on Reaper's vst folder .Same trying to load it on vst analyser plug in- altough name apears like it´s "there" , gui not opens.

Hi everyone,

many many thanks to all the helpful reports guys!! It seems that I finally found the source the issue (only 99% sure yet, but we're close).

The error is related to a minuscule buffer overflow which broke the surrounding memory in a pseudo random way. The problems with these things is that will appear or not depending on several external factors. Even worse, the overflow corrupted my debugger itself! I felt haunted yesterday and couldn't sleep well

So happy I found it!!
Very small error, insane effect!


Expect a "beta 2" in 5-8 hours latest. Again, tons of thanks for all your support!!

Ok, it seems I found and solved the problem.

Head to the labs website and download the latest version!

Hi Fabien:

Sounds like a very , very subtle compressor (altough I know it´s a mastering/bus comp). Even at extreme settings -talking about gain reduction 20 db or more- I found it hard to perceive the changes unless the attack and release values are near 0ms (on a drum track, for example). Looking forward for more comments , and will try it on other sources.

Yes, it's all about accurate compression and nothing else!

Version II acts even faster than version 1 (actually, far below a single 44.1kHz sample), so it should be useful for tracking too.

Interested to hear how good it works with your work-flows.

Please, could someone of you tell me if the beta version has presets?

Mastering a song today ; after trying some compressors (including the 1º version, TDR 4.04 which I use and like a lot), I ended with the new beta version ,basically the mastering - tight preset. It adds the "movement" that I needed without the side effects of some compressors (most release issues I think), for this specific song (jazz/instrumental - and I´m 100% itb). Now I start to understand how the subtle effect of this compressor can be helpfull without the obvious "punch" I´m used to hear and expect.

No, I was using "beta", but now I am trying "Beta 2" and the presets are there.

Very, very fine compressor! Exquisite! Trying it on a small orchestral composition and there is some kind of understanding between TDR and the music.

Hey Ciro, do you find yourself doing more GR with TDR than with your other compressors?

I'm noticing that pattern when working with TDR. It can be pushed to greater GR levels and sound very cool, while many ITB comps will just crumble after the 5db GR mark.

I tried ver1 and it is fine piece of plugin, good tool. It is great to see someone do other things than to model vintage gear. Thumbs up.
