(and I do hope some of the info and very personal opinions & approaches I contributed on camera come in handy or are inspiring for all those who will see this fantastic, massive tutorial work U & Sonic Ark have done).



Disclosure - I am involved in THIS second part, but only as freely sending in whatever I wanted and as much as I wanted on the subject of recording the electric guitar, have no clue what the other engineers & producers contributed and explained, and moreover I had NO involvement in the main, previous and fundamental first part of it, which I saw and thoroughly enjoyed. And I do think it offers a very precious amount of specific, hands-on & ears-on knowledge.
Therefore, honestly highly recommended.

do U know exactly what desk the first guy in the video has in that studio, the one with the Barefoot monitors?
Curious, and not sure from the video shot...

Plus, we seem to share a cool taste for robots!

this is a fantastic Raindirk Symphony LN2 desk. Alex and the rest of the guys at the studio put a lot of effort in bringing it back to perfect working order and it is absolutely briliant

Aaaah, the Raindirks - WONDERFUL desks!
(I remember the 80s ads for them boasting that they were the "quietest" desk in the business...and indeed they were, clean as a whistle, sweet eq)

There is one in a nice studio in Italy not far away from me.

Here is another trailer from "Complete Guitar Recording"....this time it's bits and pieces from one of our complete "real life" examples included in the tutorial (from guitar and amp choice to processing) plus a small comparison clip between processed and unprocessed signals.
This one is about more heavy rock - stoner guitar sounds with double tracked guitars etc....And of course do not forget that together with the actual video tutorial you get the Part 2 free add on video with an hour and a half of interviews, tips and tricks from a bunch of talented engineerrs, producers etc...More stuff is coming soon.....so stay tuned

Gotta try the TLM170R more (often) on distorted gtrs...

Yes, the 170 is a great and very versatile mic for guitar amp micing. I also use a lot the 193 which has the same capsule but a slightly different "color" .....both are great mic's for electric guitar.... very flat and open sounding, can handle huge spl amounts and have a near perfect cardioid pattern which is very helpful in a multi micing setup.
