Overview
The EQ3V is a flexible 7-band vintage equalizer plug-in. It offers 5 bands of fully parametric EQ, plus variable Q High Pass and Low Pass filters, and it's own unique harmonic colouration using analogue modelled saturation. Current values are clearly displayed for all parameters, each EQ section may be individually bypassed.
All equalization and saturation algorithms are oversampled, using 64bit internal processing for superior clarity and resolution.

Just tested this new EQ, and it kills on the Master Bus.

For "mastering with color", it's the perfect candidate in the plugins world IMHO. Add a nice saturation to the whole mix, that kinda glues it, and you can get a really nice tone too with the whole filters.

Gonna get it as soon as possible.

My only complaints, as sent to the developer, are :
- not able to do fine adjustments while holding the "shift" key
- nor the ability to enter precise numbers while double clicking the numbers square

And I would suggest to :
- naming the bands on the top of the GUI (in white) : LF - LMF - MF - HMF - HF
- and most of all, changing the mid-frequencies bands to : LMF (100 Hz - 1000 k), MF (800 Hz - 5 k), HMF (4 k - 10 k)

If you have time, go test it !

I need to try some of these mellowmuse plug-ins. The vintage stuff looks nice. I just haven't seen much mention of their channel/bus plug-in or their saturation plug-in when others are talked about.

Just tried it and WOW!
Compared it to the V-series and man does it beat the crap out of them.
Not exactly the same thing but still I didn' t expect that much difference in quality.
I was looking for a really good native nevish eq and you just made my day.

I just wanted to try Compressor CP3V but OSX link is broken?

Windows link too, contacted the developer about that...

Just checked for ya'll and both links were working for me! (using Chrome btw)

+1 and the range of the LMF from 200 to +/- 800 is very narrow.
Otherwise it's killer.

Haven't tried this yet, but I have to say that the plugin installer is as bad as it gets: I don't need RTAS nor 64bit version and I run my vst-plugins from different location than c:\program files (x86)\Mellowmuse\VST\ (you can't change this). This is just more work for me moving files to their correct locations and removing stuff I don't need because it's just clutter to me. Thank you!

That was bothering me too, so I contacted Mellowmuse about that too, and the developer said that it will offer the ability to chose the installation paths with the next row of updates.

I thought the EQ2 was pretty solid - is this just an expanded version of that - or is it new from the ground up?

They both look Neve-ish.

Don't know if it's the same code for the saturation and filters, but to me it's a winner for my mastering jobs that needs "attitude". A really great tone shaping tool.

EQ3V 1.1 update is now available.

Added value entry, and fine control with shift+mouse/shift+mousewheel,
Mid freq ranges have been tweaked also.

The filters share the same code base, but the saturation stages and the way they interact with the EQ is different.

The "Mellowmuse Mastering Chain" is gonna kick ass for sure.

With maybe a future CP3V tube compressor with ratios like 1.5 and 2, some program dependent release, DRY/WET feautre and a sidechain with low-cut on the detector, it could become the goto tools for mastering with colors in my book. Just sayin'.

Is there any kind of discount for current Vintage Bundle (among other MM plugs) owners?

Don't think so because it's part of the new "Mastering Series".

So it will have its own bundle with the upcoming LM1V and maybe more plugins added later, don't know about that.

Any more thoughts about this eq?

Honestly, it improves the mix in a nice way in a mastering situation.

Coupled with Waves KMT and Brainworx VSC-2 it's a winner combo IMHO.

Anyone using this on individual tracks?

There is a demo, just try it. I like it on tracks, variable Q shelves are really cool. Still thinking about buying it though

Just got this one too and I think it rocks BUT there are a few details that could use some improvement : when inserted there's an obvious bump in level, I didn't like that and it can throw off a mix or bus balance, in some scenarios the saturation thing is just too much, it would be cool to have some control over how much distortion we want or have the option to use a cleaner sound too, even with all bands turned off the level jump is there and it sounds more saturated, my two cents ...
