I just experimented with the hardness control for the first time on a master, and I can't believe i waited this long to try it. Very powerful (in a subtle mastering kind of way)

It's kinda crazy to me that this EQ doesn't get much run here on GS. It is so versatile and powerful.

Something I've been experimenting with lately is the 'pan-width' parameters under each band. When I feel the mix is sounding to 'constrained' I open up Metric AB. Select Correlation (in full spectrum mode) and start adjusting the pan-width and hear what is possible while using the visuals in Metric AB to not overly whack the phase.

SlickEQ M has survived a lot of competition on the 2-buss. We all get bored and look for new and exciting. But there it stands. Undefeated!

Reading your post a few days ago reminded me of the Brightness option in the Centre Filter menu.
Using Brightness helped me finish off two mixes.
+ 0.2db in one and + 0.4db in the other.
A little goes a long way.
Magic and so convenient.

Slick Eq M continues to fly under the radar, deserves so much more recognition.

I know it's SlickEQ 'M' for mastering but I do sometimes like using the smart ops to mildly deresonate at the buss level. Helps avoid build up at the 2-buss. Maybe if TDR added the ability to draw the curves on the GUI it would be more popular? I wouldn't change a thing....but maybe some GUI 'WOW' .....ahhhhh nevermind. It's so pro. So deep. It has 'easy' buttons but the secret sauce is learning how to use it's features to fit the material. Like most great plugins...that takes time, pateince, and experimentation. I can say without hesitation SlickEQ M is the least 'limited' Mastering EQ I own and it is the only one doing any 'heavy-lifting' on the 2-buss.

Yep, Smart Ops to deresonate on the stereo buss is very useful.
I do that at the stereo mix level, so the hard lifting deresonate work has been done before importing the mix into a mastering session.

Cracking open a VI Drum mix that sounds really good but...well... fake in it's perfection I guess. So I run smart ops and match the gain/pan/width of a great sounding REAL drum recording and apply it to the VI Drums All while keeping an eye on full spectrum phase. Turning SlickEQ M on and off is like changing a robot into a human being. Fantastic plug. Possibilites are endless. See pic.

@ JfromRVA and all. I have been working on this technique quite a bit lately and it is really cool. I have had some very nice results loading it on an aux return's I have taken to naming "Drum Space" "GTR Space" "Vox Space" etc.

I did a ton of captures at 44.1 and 96, finding the proper reference is perhaps the hardest part? I have had great results with captures from some of the audiophile discs I have around I really hate that phrase and consider myself a High Fidelity Lover more than the "A" word... I like to be high sometimes and enjoy all music played back in Hi Fidelity...

Feature request. A gain scale knob to adjust the curve globally? Similar to what PA included on the AMEK 200 would be perfect, IMO.

Ahhhhh. Well, that is an embarrassing oversight on my part. Thank you for pointing it out. I had not needed to scale in the past and had not bothered to try the Range function. SHould have known it was covered in this awesome EQ!

Feature Request: Increase the Output gain to +/- 24dB.

If I'm gainstaging with analog emulations like Acustica Audio and the next plugin in the chain want's to see a -18dB input, then SlickEQ M's -12dB maximum output gain is sometimes not enough.

Sorry I missed this question. Yes. On the drum bus. Though recently I've moved this technique to the drum room. Someone who tried the technique pointed out in the thread that the stereo manipulation can blur transients. At first it sounds really cool. But I kept reaching for a transient designer in the mix. Moving it to the room as a similar effect but without the transient 'smear'.

Here is some insight into a 'trick' that makes it almost impossible to hear the difference between what one would consider a great 'dynamic' speaker IR vs a 'flat' one.

Other than simple EQ matching there is a bit more to the process to reach a certain level of precision. An important element is width/pan and luckily that can be copied by using the awesome SmartOps in TDR Slick EQ M. (see pic)

When diving into a tone 'match' I will first EQ the amp sim to get as close as possible using the built-in IR (in this case I'm using NDSP Tone King) and using a setup similar to what I liked in SMP.

Once close I run an EQ match. Then 'copy' the Width/Pan of the SMP version and apply it to the EQ matched Tone King IR version.

Lastly, just a +/- 1dB 'dynamic' push using TEOTE and BINGO!!!!

Slick EQ M ability to copy the width/pan of a source is pretty amazing and I think maybe a very overlooked feature that I just haven't seen in any other plug.

Edit: A couple of notes. I use Metric AB full spectrum correlation meter to make sure I'm in phase. If not I use the controls in Slick EQ to narrow or widen if needed. Basically if your multi-mic'd guitars are in good standing phase wise this technique should provide a bit more '3D' suspended guitar sound without changing the meat of the tone or knock you out of phase.

Just went back to SlickEQ and it really beats everything, that I currently have.
It's simply brilliant.
