-10 Hz, Neutral, Wall.

I very quickly fell in love with these speakers on those settings in my little private studio. I did try other settings, briefly, during the first couple of days.

For the first few weeks I had them on 0 Hz/Neutral/Wall.
I do love how tight and controlled the low-end is on these monitors, and at the risk of sometimes wanting a wee bit more oompf, the other day I thought I'd try the -10 Hz setting.

Lo and behold, maybe it's just me or my ears are failing but now at -10 Hz it all of a sudden felt like there was even less bass than before, lol.
The monitors are pretty close to the wall (I have no choice there, it is what it is), perhaps that could be a reason - though you'd think the reverse would play out here.

the only thing im curious about is hoe to use the input sensitivity switch

t with my old setup...
RME UFX into Mackie big knob into Perraux 80 watt amp Into NS20m
i would turn the Mackie knob to about 9 0clock
but the new setup needs to be at 12 oclock to achieve the same loudness
I wonder if i need to switch the LYDs to +6db sensitivity?? they are at 0db now
Its not a big deal just want to know ive got my gain structure right.

I’m just about to pull the trigger for a pair of Lyd 48! Never heard them in person but I love their design and all the positive reviews.

I have the 2k budget for them here in Europe but what I recently read on some reviews people stated that Kali IN8 2wave sound as good as the Lyd48 in every aspect (which are double the price) and we are paying double for the logo. Is that any true here?

I believe Lyd48 are bigger class studio monitor but If anyone have experienced both side by side, please share...

I had the chance to compare a few monitors side by side
two of which were the Kali IN8 and the LYD 48
to my ears there is little similarity between the 2
the Kali seemed overblown in the bottom end
and was putting a low end bass cloud over the lower mids
Cant remember the top end but what i had heard so far did not impress me so i stopped considering them
also they are very big size wise
I eventually went with the LYD 48s
im not saying they are the best monitors ever
but definitely the best in that price range for 3 ways.
I was concerned that the LYDS
would not have enough bottom end
but for me ..Rock, blues americana ,theres plenty
and its very descriptive and true .... for me.
In my mind the Kalis are not a contemporary of the LYDs
They are less expensive for a reason.

Yeah...I suppose too Kali's are cheap for a reason, even though people rave about them.

Had them and returned: found them somewhat flat and not very detailed.

Got a pair of the LYD-48 for a week or so. Fine monitors, I just wonder, whether the addition of a Dynaudio 18S sub would really bolster the overall performance of the monitors. I mean, not only when it comes to the bass, you know. Anyone here, using this sub with the LYD-48?

after 4? years, still enjoy their upfront clarity. Added an Adam sub for my small mastering room and much improved. It’s important to know what’s going on below 40Hz.

If anyone is interested, I am selling my pair of these; black, 3 years old, always used at low volume in my home studio.

Which floorstands would you recommend for the Lyd-48?
Are Isoacoustics Iso-stands recommended to be used on top of floorstands? Can I get away by putting the Lyd-48 on my desk over Isoacoustics Iso-stands?

My room dimensions are 3.90 m x 2.94 m x 2.43 m

I'm curious: what settings do you have on the back of your speakers?



I have mine set up in a similar way, close to a wall with the isoacoustic stands and tweeters at ear level. I have the feeling that they sounded fuller when I had them directly on the desk below ear level

I have a very similar desk setup as in your photo.

As for the back settings, all is neutral like in the graphic but mine are switched to 'wall' as they're rather close to the back wall.
I opted for the Iso Acoustics pucks (4 under each monitor) instead of those stands, works great.

Best monitors I've ever owned, sill smitten with them nearly 3 years in, mixes translate perfectly.

Finally after read the scarse but good reviews and thoughts about LYD 48 i ordered a black color pair, i used to have several monitors with subwoofer but after all i prefer only a pair of full range speaker, so i hope this 3 way spakers fulfill the purpose sucefully because there is a lot of money here in my country, i usually produce urban latin music and i need a good representacion of the sub-bass but without masking the mids and highs. i will be wating arround 20 days to their arrive because they was at back order... each day goes so slowly.

Subwoofer Pairing Issue (solved)
When pairing with a non-DYNAUDIO subwoofer, be careful. I thought I’d share my experience, in case it could help someone else.

Got a pair of LYD48 about a month ago. Paired them with an Adam T10S sub, because I had one here. I set the crossover on the Adams at 80Hz (lowest possible), and reduced the bass extension on the LYDs, since that frequency range was handled by the sub anyway.
I struggled with all my mixes. Something was just off. I couldn’t really hear the bass — I could feel it, but I couldn’t judge it properly. I used ARC to correct the speaker output, and in REW everything looked okay. But it just sounded bad.

Solution:
Today, after reading so many posts praising the LYDs’ low-end extension, I decided to revisit the setup. I extended the bass on the LYDs, and bypassed the crossover on the Adam sub completely.
And tada – I finally get why people praise these monitors.

I was literally about to sell them, thinking, maybe they’re just not for me. In hindsight, my previous routing also seems kind of stupid. The crossover filter on the Adams, the low-cut on the DYNs probably interfered already. So yeah, great idea to just slap another filter on it, with ARC.

Id like to go for a 3way monitor after 20 years of 2 ways and my budget is 2,5k max.
would you recommend Lyd-48's to a guy who started with genelecs 8040 (10 years) and considered his next (way cheaper) pair of monitors yamaha hs8 an upgrade?

can Lyd-48's get loud enough compared to yamahas? i like mixing loud
scoring and electronic dance genres, progressive house, techno, experimental .

The easy way to use a 2.1 system is to let the satellites full range and use the crossover of the studio subwoofer. It has the necessary filters designed to accomplish that taks and avoid phase cancelation. I'm still waiting my LYD48s i hope next week they will come. 🎶💯
