Hi guys,
I would be thankful for any helpful thoughts on this:
I record into Ableton Live with a Roland OctaCapture with direct monitoring (in Windows) and I noticed that when I record external audio into Ableton there's a difference in sound quality between monitoring and playback. While the recorded sound in playback is rich and full as it should be, the monitoring sound is compromised (lacks low-end, overall lower quality). Ableton does the job correctly: when I'm NOT using direct monitoring on the OctaCapture and monitoring in Ableton instead it sounds perfectly fine, no difference between monitoring and playback.
[I am not monitoring in Ableton and directly at the same time, so double signal is not the issue]
So apparently, somehow the sound quality of OC's direct monitoring is compromised.
I can't quite wrap my head around this, especially as I'm otherwise very happy with this interface.
I hope I didn't overlook a similiar thread - these two don't apply, because they're about issues with the recording quality:
Sound quality difference between monitoring and end recording?
Recordings sound different than live monitoring--system issue?
Thanks a bunch and sorry beforehand if there is a super simple solution that I'm just blanking right now out of feeble-mindedness!
So long,
Cheers Credo
