Those Lindell plugins are pretty close to the hardware they are modeled from. I've been able to get a lot of use out of them. They have their own character for sure.

unrelated, but i have been loving lindell 7x-500. and of course the 80 series.

I need to demo though.
Pultec and the 909 kick is one of the best relationships.

UAD support confirmed the behavior. Just adviced me to put a HP filter before their Pultec. They said that all other Pultec emulations are not exact copies of the real hardware and that is why they don't produce this aliasing-like noise.

Will stick to the BlackRooster Pultec till then.

I suppose there’s a reason Pultec endorsed and licensed the Apogee plugin. It’s a no-brainer for me. Besides, it’s a way to begin saving money on the real thing, the Pultec hardware.

Does it matter? Current Pultec has zero relationship to the original company. They just own a legal right to use the name, and when we say Pultec, we are talking about the vintage ones.

The BlackRooster has a wonderful bass boost but in my humble opinion the high boost is a little brittle.

The NoiseAsh sounds great for both top and bottom boost and is very warm sounding.

The UA is more focused sounding and preserves transients the most. You need to turn the knobs a little further to match the size and fatness of the NoiseAsh.

I think all three are great but I rate them...

3. BlackRooster (maybe the best bass)

I care very much about Pultec style plugins and use them a lot in every mix.

I'd add the BetterMaker Pultec to the list.

Clean ... but also has an optional Value circuit, along with flexible Freq settings [along with snap-to standards].
An analyzer display also optional.
