I couldn't find a pre-existing topic on this particular question. Maybe someone can link me to it if there already is one. But here is my situation:

>Have Roland V-drums set up in garage, have older computer (Windows7 64 bit) in garage
>Have Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 interface
>Want to record drum improvs/ jams when feeling creative
>Have newer computer and DAW in my room
>Just want to collect my drum sessions from garage, transfer to a thumb drive, and edit in my room at later time

I was hoping someone has a recommendation for a simple, low file size MIDI recorder software that I can use in my garage to collect my E-drum sessions midi data?

I would use Reaper on your garage laptop in that case. Record the MIDI on a track then export it to the thumb drive.

Assuming you are "collecting your MIDI data", transferring it to your main DAW (desktop) and there use a VSTi, like SD3 or similar, to iron out the irregularities.
