I think it is a free download from the Townsend Labs site.
I wonder why they even sell the plugin? Does it work with other things?
It "can" work on a stereo track recorded with a stereo mic. Most microphones are not stereo, they are mono mics. The Townsend Sphere mic is a stereo mic.
If you are looking for a mic modeling plugin that really does work on any track, and doesn't require proprietary hardware or a mic connected to it, I suggest Acustica's Lava plugin.

Like I mentioned, read up more on the mic and learn how it works before you get it. Townsend's videos should also still be uploaded to Youtube. The mic is designed to use 2 channels linked together to take full advantage of the mic models but you can also record the front capsule thru the plugin or just use it as a standalone mono mic without the plugin. The other two plugins just give you more mic models to pick from. The LD-87 Vintage setting was very close to my U87ai.
