Reverb from Team Steven? As in Slate Digital?

For me:
1. Recabinet v5 (only a few weeks to wait though!)
2. Distressor plugin - if it's only 95% there, then I'll wait for Slate's take on it.
3. Eiosis new plugin sneak peak - my guess, a clean multiband compressor

I do hope that Softube has some more amp modelling plugins coming based on the same concept as the Marshall plugs.

But besides that I'm pretty set as far as plugins goes.

Ahh, fair enough in that case. They've done some decent stuff! The UBK, Big bottom, URS strip. I reckon they should spend a couple of hundred quid on a new website.

The 12345 does have limiter mode too though.

You are correct about the limiter. I've never used it as it's always a little too much for me but, yes there is one. Sorry about that. lol, had to pull it up again to remember.

How on earth can the most anticipated plugins of many people on this thread be compressor plugins?

Compressors are really THE LAST kind of plugins that the world needs more of, seriously. Get a grip. There's like a million of them right now. There are dozens of great emulations of almost every famous hardware compressor in history. There are dozens of great modern clean compressors with tons of high-tech features.

What could you people possibly need with regard to compressors that doesn't already exist?

I don't know how many of you actually MAKE music rather than just reading gearslutz and salivating over the latest new plugins, but you will sooner or later all reach the point where you will realize this:

1. You bought a **** ton of compressor plugins because you thought they give your sound this coloring and that coloring and bla bla.
2. You don't use 98% of the compressor plugins you bought.
3. Your music hasn't gotten any better than before you had all those compressor plugins.

None of you need a Distressor plugin. None of you need a new UAD LA3A version. None of you need another compressor from Slate. You plain and simply don't need it.

Here's a test for yourself to check whether you need another compressor plugin:

Step 1: Look into your plugin folder.
Step 2: Is there a compressor plugin in there?
Step 3: Yes? Good. You're all set. You don't need another compressor.

seriously, though... I wish someone would do a nebula version of an rs124 type compressor... even one of the new chandler version would be awesome!

A tale of compressors...
I own zillions of them (like the majority of GS'ers no doubt)
there i was, drooling.. waiting.. anticipating for Kush audio's UBK to drop.. This was going to be the one, you know... the final compressor, the last one I'll ever need to buy
And so it came... wow it's amazing!! I'll use it on everything
Then another shiny new comp came along.. and another and another etc etc
UBK starts to collect digital dust, fast forward a year, I know I'm gonna do a little shoot out b4 I buy another compressor, outcomes the UBK, christ this is good, why did I stop using it? Ive no idea
Will I stop buying new comps? probably not

So abbey roads went from softube to waves?

I have been waiting for years for a company to release a payola plug-in.

If there was a plug-in to emulate the tone and punch of old samplers such as SP-1200, I'd be on it.
Then again, there's been a rumour on GS that Roland are releasing at NAMM a groovebox using their ACB technology doing just that, so we'll see.

Maybe MKII versions (i.e. GUI updates for Waves and UAD plugins).

Lol... I sometimes use it on a trippy vox and its effects are really good... I will sometimes use them as a virtual stomp box into Amplitube 4.

Guitar Rig's effects are actually pretty good. It's just the amps and cabs that are rubbish. I guess for a product aimed squarely at guitarists (the clue is in the name) that's a bit of a bummer.

I have forced myself to use only what I need. Yes, the lust is always there, but the wallet feels good! Nowadays, I'm working with less than 30 commercial plugins plus whatever Studio One brings natively (my 'backup' DAW - Reaper - doesn't have anything I want to use). That's more than enough for my needs, but if something truly unique comes along at a reasonable price (will never cross the $125 line for a plugin or software upgrade), I would consider spending the money.

We have reached a point where the difference between commercial plugins is often minimal and mostly on a cosmetic (GUI) level. Good times indeed!

Out-of-control gear lust, for a lot of people, is a psychological way of dealing with the fact that they can't make music they actually like. The excuse is always the absence of the latest and most expensive software/hardware. That's why you see guys salivating over products they have not even seen: those products represent the last piece of the puzzle in their broken dreams.
