ITB, but what are you using for tracking?
Anywho, everyone has an ear for something else, just like everyone likes different kinds of foods etc. I have a hybrid OTB/ITB setup and have worked this way for a couple decades. If the guy has been using LA3A's, he loves them. Not much is going to change their opinion. I'm the same way about particular hardware items I have. I know people might just not understand them, I do and it works for me.
I bet you have a favorite plugin? If someone told you that plugin was sh!t and their plugin was better you'd just roll your eyes or you might check their plugin out. In this case his plugin (hardware LA3A) might set you back a few grand (well now GAP is coming out with an affordable offering). The price might be prohibitive so maybe you can't just download it and try it out. No need to poke sarcasm at people here. Some people bought these things when they could hardly be given away, still others have deep pockets so good for them.
I have at least a dozen mikes that I bought for less than a ticket to a matinee. Some are now worth hundreds, thousands. No cork-sniffer here. I just loved old equipment when it was unfashionable to do so and I lucked out that a lot of it is in demand now.
Either way they are just tools. To me it doesn't matter if it's soldered together or coded on an SSD drive, if it works I'm in.
