It's no accident that sales have been scarce last month and especially this one; we're being squeezed in the hope that many of us will cave in to the sub offer.

As I suggested, telling "big" customers that they only have 2 days left to take advantage of their sub offers is unfair. There can be many reasons why they mightn't have taken advantage of them yet, such as temporary lack of finances, not knowing about the discount or waiting on sales that PA said, whilst being fewer-in-number, would nevertheless not be abandoned altogether.

The licence you download from the site will no doubt be tagged with an expiration date.

At the bottom of your account's "Manage Registered Plugins" page, you'll see a blue tab labelled "download license file".

The blurb above it sort of covers your question:
If you are activating an internet-connected computer, you don't need to download this license file.

Use the license file to update the status of your plugin licenses on your machine. After you make license changes, you will need to download your license file and replace the current file on your machine.

Ahh... so it's not just an expiration date embedded into the license then Jack?

Makes sense 'cause computers' system times can be altered, obviously.

If the programmers are smart there's ways to make moot people changing the times of their computer system. Put a computer system online and it'll find the correct time from an online server.

It wouldn't have to be a specific expiration date in the plugin but just counting the number of days and that way they get around months that have 30 or 31 or 28/29 days.

It seems that for the first time for a long time my voucher ($50) is going to be unused. There is nothing to buy; I already have all the $49 stuff and many more. Closest is Magnum-K ($99 upgrade), but I am not sure if its worth of $49 to me. Too bad that you cannot buy the monthly subscription using a voucher. It really seems that the days of good sales are over. Subscription is not for me. My money goes elsewhere.

Not really liking any of the unfiltered stuff unfortunately... just going to spend the voucher to not waste it...

Monthly validations are another thing that keeps me from subscriptions - even from Slate All Excess Academy (pun), which would be the _only_ sub I would be interested in.

OK, I have iLok ZDT with TLC which requires validation every 90 days - at least its done almost automatically (screen pops up, press OK, that's it) - but still it's only 4 times a year, compard to 12.

I'm demoing G8 and Fault and just not bonding with either one. Fault in particular seems to have some kind of phase issue as soon as the plugin is dropped on a track at default settings. Probably just me not knowing what I'm doing.

Anyone have any opinions on the SPL micro plugs Attacker, De-Verb, Mo-Verb? I don't have any transient designer plugs. With dynamic discounts and a $50 voucher the 3 plugs would be around $52.90 - $17.63 each. Or I could pick them off one month at a time if the vouchers don't stop.

IMHO these 3 have _very_ specific uses that do not replace a normal TD.
If it was "Attacker" and "Sustainer" it would work. But the other ~Verbs two are about reverb tails which is something more specific than general sustained signals.

I use De-Verb only for crap recorded Youtube-/ podcasts voices, you know those obviously only recorded with the laptop mic or similar.

Does that mean that you could subscribe for a month, then unsubscribe and keep all the plugins??

I've heard great things about all of them, and oldTimer seems to be a classic...

But I couldn't justify buying any since I have both Klanghelms, Kotelnikov, and DMG Essence... I think I'm covered with compressors for now and would just lose money + add confusion. heh.

im eyeing the Fabfilter C to do some general work, i think its considered a classic.

I'm kind of a fanboy for PSP stuff though since getting vintagewarmer back in the day. their stuff just sounds and feels good to work with in a way a lot of stuff doesn't. very satisfying and reliable.

I’ve done tons of tests and I’ve never heard de-verb, or anything else do something that isn’t part of either the attack or sustain section on transient designer.

And... not all reverb removal plugins are equal...

Zynaptiq Unveil truly is its own technology that gets rid of reverb in much more intelligent and complex ways... (Hence the hefty price tag.. for those that need it; like people working in post it’s incredible...)

The SPL plugins however appear to just be feature-limited, rehashed versions of the transient shaper.

Incidentally everybody XLN audio have a sale on right now: both of their plugins Retro Color and Drum Shaper are great and 50% off. I use both ALL the time.

As for the PSP sale, Fetpressor, Twin L and Oldtimer are all stone cold classics for me. If I could only get only one it would be Fetpressor: it can't sound bad, all the usual necessary options included, just a great mixing tool.

I'm still holding out hope that market forces (read: what practically everyone else is doing price-wise and the consequences for PA of ignoring this), will pressure the company to revert to pretty much what it was doing before whilst still offering the sub option for those who require it.

That’s why avoid installing trial plugins. I’ll read up, watch some vids, do a lot of heavy weighing, but I avoid trials as much as possible. To avoid getting addicted!!

I have an OCD penchant for completing collections, so it doesn’t always work.

Tell me about it as I'm wrestling with getting the Fabfilter Pro G gate; I have everything of their 'mastering/mixing' collection except for that and the de-esser. I don't need the latter.

Twin L:
Loud. Obviously it's a limiter but I think it's more of a "mixing limiter"? I usually don't really LIKE to use limiters in mixing, that's just my superstition because I generally tend to think of loudening as the role of the master. So I'm not sure the use of this, for me. It does sound quite great. I've been wanting it for a while. A bit skeptical if I'll use it in practice, as my mixing style is to use normal compression in the mix to keep levels in control. Generally.

FETPressor:
Sound very analog. Very vibey and quality. The price is right.

OldTimer:
Same with the above, a bit different reaction but fits a different nich. I think I would complement the above two with this if I could.

ProC:
Very clean and controllable. I don't know why but I don't really "like it" and never really have. I am not always sure I'm getting the sound I want from it, though I can't say for sure why. I think I want it in theory, but in practice I am good enough with compression with my ears generally. I don't need the visual feedback, but part of me thinks it could help me get a little more skill with compression so I MIGHT go with this one.

Money is tight right now. My mixes are already very good but something tells me Pro-C could give me an addition 10% compression fine tuning ability with its visual features and precision encouraging a more rational and thoughtful approach to compression.

On the other hand, the PSP compressors sound good, are very very fast to set up, low CPU making it encouraging to use them across a mix easily (much like I currently use Arouser for almost everything).

I wish I could just get them all but I'm going to have to narrow it down. If I get ProC on the sale right now for me its like 70 bucks. On the other hand I could get all three PSP for the same price, and probably grab Pro C some time in the Christmas when they go on sale again.

I do have a bit of a lust for Pro-C because it's kind of a rite of passage at this point to grab Fabfilter ProC and ProQ. It's something I objectively plan on grabbing, whereas the three PSP Compressors are more "nice to own" type things.

I don't use MJUC at all, to be honest. Rarely. I think it's a bit overrated, but that's just my feeling - it sounds good but the UI turns me off.

Running out of ideas for my $50 voucher. I could get Byome, Phil's, Magnum-K, or the Ampeg B-15 for $49. Maag EQ2 for $20. Need to go back and look at all the August offers.

I'd go with BYOM. I use it a lot when I need a tool for creative FX processing. If you're a producer/artist it's a no brainer.

**** just realized ProC is 115 not 67. The way they present it on your account page is misleading when you deselect everything it goes to the normal price. PASS!
