yes, almost agree completely.
aside from the fact that transient response in ported speakers is excellent... porting doesn't alter transient response, it just unloads the woofer at subsonic frequencies.
a ported design gives flatter bass (if properly designed) down to a certain frequency and then rolls off rapidly below that point.
closed box speakers can be audible at lower frequencies than ported speakers due to having a slower lf roll off (assuming the same woofer is used) but above a certain low frequency ported speakers can be more efficient and lower distortion through lower excursion of the woofer due to port loading.
this is why subsonic filters should always be used with ported speakers, and sadly most amps don't have effective subsonic filters.
