I recently bought RE 20, which was made in Burnsville, Minnesota. Than I watched some reviews and found out that on the most of the microphone it is written Variable-D and dynamic cardioid and on my microphone there is nothing. I would like to know if there is any difference between the microphones with the writing and without. Is my microphone old or new made? I am not sure if there are going to be any difference with the sound quality of the microphone. Thank you very much for your time.

No true pair... I know. I've been borrowing a pair of SDCs when required and also tom mics etc. if needed. Thinking about getting a pair of KM184s, although moreso would like to get another M160. Have had great results with the 4038 and M160 in Glyn Johns. The two 414s have seemed to work fine for OHs as a pair as well.
here some additions from the last two years, too

My latest additions are the Neumann U67 and M49 reissues. I'm very pleased with both of them. The U67 make a beautiful stereo pair. The M49 sounds full. soft and smooth. The Neumann KM 133 are great for orchestral recordings, especially on strings they have this sweet Hollywood sound and the M147, which doesn't get any love here at GS, was also a very positive surprise.. It really sounds vintage in a good way (for me)
My locker is far smaller than most here, as I mostly just record myself, but as of right now:
Neumann U67 RI
Neumann M49V
Neumann U87 AI
Neumann KM 184 (2)
Heiserman H47tube (with 48-style configuration)
Shure SM57 (2)
My primary vocal microphones are the 67 and 49, which are both fantastic, although I expect the Heiserman to cut into that once I receive it (just placed the deposit). Really looking forward to having a 47-style microphone in my collection.
Wat about the Philips 414 /C12 mics .. how good they are . In which ballpark are they. Which preamp they pair the best with. Iโm curious.
The C12Aโs? I donโt believe in mics being paired with a pre. But they are cathode follower, so if your source is on the quieter side, you want something with clean gain, or it could get noisy.

This is not my attempt at mic-measuring contest.
Others clearly have bigger mics than mine.
But I thought my collection could offer something less heard in gearspace.
