Just added a JZ Amethyst. It showed up yesterday. Sounds fantastic on vocals. Tempted to get the V67 before the Summer sale ends.

The purge has commenced! I'm decommisioning my NYC recording studio in preparation for a permanent move out west, and so have recently sold off many of ^^^those mics that I listed 11 years ago.

Will be scaling my facility (and my work in general) way back; no longer doing tracking and mixing, will just have a small overdubbing room for my bass playing and voiceover work.

It's almost "retirement"

I lived there for a while, several times. Loved it.

It was during my nomadic days. When I was leaving to head north one spring, a girl I knew from there asked me if that was my first time in Tucson. I said yes. She smiled and said, "You'll be back."

Most people split once the summer comes, but the monsoon season is awesome. Mt. Lemon area is a great getaway. Motorcycles are perfect, if you can avoid killing yourself. Cool (wild) people. Flagstaff in the north for change, and plenty of music in the area.

It's a drastic change from NYC, but if the desert "speaks" to you, you'll love it. Drivers licenses last for 35 years (or they used to) and they don't observe daylight savings time. Not a place obsessed with following rules. If you have decent gear, make sure security/insurance is a priority. Good neighborhood makes a difference too.

For those looking for an inexpensive 251 sound, look at the Weiss Klang V17. It is a super good option fitting the C12 but more 251 sound. It has a nice smoothing of the upper mids and highs that 251’s and their clones are supposed to perform in the circuit. It is strangely reproduced somehow with the electronics and the in that mic. The cap may be a contributing factor as well, but it is of unknown origin. A sleeper for sure.
