Mercury Grand PreQ15s or Great River MP-2NV & EQ-2NV ?
Hi everybody,
Between the Mercury Grand PreQ15s or Great River MP-2NV & EQ-2NV combo what would you choose ? And why ? I'm after the Calrec 1061, 1161, Neve 33114 type of sound and EQ and heard only good things about the Calrec PQ10 and PQ15 preamps.
I'm after the Calrec 1061, 1161, Neve 33114 type of sound and EQ
Thanks in advance,
Why not just save up and get what you are after?
I can only remark on the Great River Preamp and EQ as I've mixed tracks recorded with the mic preamp and owned the EQ-2NV for a short time and no they don't sound like what you are after.
To me the EQ-2NV reminded me of an API EQ if anything.
Didn't get the Neve or "British EQ" "vibe at all when using it.
I don't know why, i was thinking that the Great River was very much inspired by Neve... And I thought it might be the ideal candidate for the ultimate pre-EQ combo for me. With greater flexibility than the Mercury Grand...
I've noticed that there aren't many posts talking about the Mercury Grand... but what i read about, it seems to be the perfect modern clone of the holy grail of Calrec pres and EQs...
