I met Eric on another fine forum, years ago. And I followed his efforts practically from the beginning. It was obvious to me right from the start that the guy was dedicated and on a mission. That's no absolute guarantee for success, but it does help a lot. As does talent.

It's always good to be a witness of a success story and it pleases me a lot to see the current status. And he's prolly not done, yet.

If anybody in LA wants to bring one over for a shoot out against a couple good Neumann 47s, I'd love to hear them. My friend Craig speaks highly of them, and I'm very curious.

There aren't too many out in the wild yet JJ. I only get to LA 2-3 x's a year these days, and it's usually jam packed when I do get there....

Maybe I'll have to bring one of my 47s to Nash and shoot it out with Craig's when I there next.

That's a gorgeous sounding mic.

If it's on a Saturday or Sunday evening, I'd be game to drive up, and really "sang" through them.

Plus I could bring my MXL V69me Toob Mic, for good measure.

Got my second head basket today for the H47t with an HM7 capsule in it. I originally ordered my main head basket with an HK47 in it. I got the HM7 in a chrome headbasket (matte for the HK47) so I could tell what's what in the heat of the moment...

Matt from Heiserman walked me through swapping the head baskets and it's super easy to do and only takes about a minute - or two. Just three screws, a slight wiggle, and the basket is free and ready for a swap. Putting on the new head basket was just as easy - the mechanical design and production is very exacting, and everything lines up nicely.

Typical Heiserman quality. Great build, esthetically very pleasing and great customer service.

The capsule sounds as I expected. In comparison to the HK47, it's a little "warmer" and more "vintage" sounding. Both sound great. The HK47 MIGHT be a tad bit louder / bigger, but then again, it could have been me too. I'm not a singer here....

Anyway, many thanks to Eric and Matt and everyone else @ Heiserman for a great and very versatile mic package. With the two capsules, this mic will cover a LOT of ground, and both options initially sound great. More thoughts as I actually get the time, and opportunity to record more with them.

I'd advise two separate honeymoon periods, rather than swapping too often.
Although, especially in the beginning, the latter may be hard to resist.
Well, the fact that it's not a one second, bayonet mount should put the brakes on to some extent.

Hi, definitely interested here, how does it work for Canada? Do you distribute with economik at all or would I need to buy from a US site or your website.

About dr Bill's review, and I hate to ask, was there any compensation for his review? Was there some kind of incentive for him to post the review? Transparency is key in this day and age, I think me and others would like some details. I do trust his judgement when it comes to using microphones, he's a veteran in the game.

My compensation was receiving another great mic at what I considered a killer price that I'd probably never see again. (And indeed, the exceptional intro price now seems to be history....) That was enough for me. I wish my wife felt the same. After 70+ mics, I have a hard time justifying another to her. LOL No one at Heiserman asked me to review the mic. I'm sure they'd love anyone to post up reviews though. A really great review would be on vocals I think. Especially with clips. I might get to do that soon. Depends on a couple of things... Or that one mic out in front of drum kit - picking up the overall kit - I really want to try it there with my Coil CA70S. For size and density. And I really want to put it up beside my MK47 on vocals. That mic has worked very well for me in the past. Same for kit.

Is the Heiserman the best 47 clone out there? I can't say that. I haven't had the opportunity to try all of em. Is it a great mic? Absolutely. I'm pretty sure they have a 14 day full refund situation available so that you can test for yourself. I'd suggest that if you have doubts. What's to loose? That's really the best way to try mics - in your own studio on your own voice or the voice you intend to use it on. If at all possible. Good luck.

@ hellohead -- Right now we're only selling the mic direct -- it helps us to keep the prices reasonable. It's likely that the price would have to go up a good bit to sell through retailers, who take a minimum of 30% and oftentimes much more, especially for international distribution.

So if you're ordering from Canada or elsewhere in the world, your shipping cost might be higher, but still far less than the higher price we would have to charge for selling through distributors. Any plans for a 251?

Well we've done the hardest part with our HK12 capsule (a true recreation of the vintage ck12). But we do have some other projects in the pipeline, and those will likely materialize before a 251. Definitely on the short-list though....

Brass style 414 would be awesome too.
The capsule I heard at Anaheim NAMM, sounded like a twin, to the Vintage 414 next to it.

3200 usd is not bad, that's 4200 but theres probably a decent amount of duty taxes on it. I get spooked by duty taxes, therefore I get kind of scared to test out US products or foreign products in general outside of a dealer, anyway. We'll see what I decide on.

We have some clients in Canada, and if we use the correct shipping methods, we can make sure that the duties aren't too crazy.
