When I spoke to Peter (some time ago) about these, he said that they were a "grain of wheat" type bulbs, 6V, XICON brand. He mentioned that these can be found at a typical "hobby shop"... I personally didn't have to look, because the Shadow Hills sent me a few for replacements/backups...

Try calling during regular day hours. In my experience there is usually someone there to address your needs!

My Mono Gama has "A501" on the top of the unit. Is that the serial number or something else? Thanks!

Hi, here's a pic. There are no other numbers on the unit. Also the nickel and discrete channels have distortion that goes in and out so I think something is wrong with the unit. Any way to diagnose this or will I have to send it in to get serviced? Thanks!

I had a mono input sub d to sub d coming with my equinox. Bulbs went out after a month. Psu started to get noisy after two months...other than that....my most loved unit....

Okay so i think that the newer units are shipping with that cable.

So the bulbs went out ? i can understand that it's hand crafted and stuff but for a $5k unit it's a bit too much don't you think ?

Any other horror stories with SH ?

today i reseved my own SHMC ..
i havent try it out yet but it is fantastic looking unit.
my question is why Shadowhills did skip using Urei T4B opto? was it too expensive or new ones sounds some way better?

Any Equinox you order now has channels 25-32 as mono, no cables or adapters needed anymore. Also, spoke with Peter the other day and he told me the Hyperion is dead in the water. Not going to happen.

I'm a proud new owner of the Equinox and have to say, it is everything and more than I thought it would be.

Mine arrived last week and I have to zealously agree.
Peter is also quite a decent gentlemen.

I didn't know about the 25 to 32 inputs being mono, anybody knows after which serial it is this way. Mine is F109.

I just had mine, i have two problems on it, speaker monitor output is crazy high (set to 4 or 5 is the max my PMC speakers can handle) and DAW input 1&2 is unbalanced (left is very low and right very high).
I sent an email to SH and i had an instant answer, Peter even called me to explain things and he sent me the parts and explanations to fix it (i haven't recieved those yet, should be here next week).

Is there someone who already has the new 19" PSU?
Does it hum too? (My half rack PSU is also noisy )

My unit was faulty, Peter at shadow hills really helped me out on this, trying everything to fix things long distance. SH finally sent me a new one all the way from Texas to Paris as it was not fixable. I must say i have never been in contact with a better tech/after sale support before.

Do you guys know, is there any direct sales from SHI ? Or is there any place in NYC to get the Equinox + new PSU ? I'll be in NYC this Monday (March 14th) and gonna stay over there like a week, The international sales rep. from vintageking somehow didn't care my order (I made phone calls and wrote tons of emails) ? Finally I decided to emailed Peter Reardon directly about the situation today. Because of the time consuming (wire transfer/ shipping/ St.Patrick's day ....) , if someone knows a solution about getting the device, I desperately need it !

Hi, I just bought a SHMC from VK, and will bring it home ( Rio de Janeiro ) in a month. I need to know the size of the beast. Trough the pics I cannot tell if ist a 5U or a 6U gear.
could anyone tell me that?

Congratulations! It's a great unit.

It is 5U - and very heavy (er, solid). And don't forget the separate power supply.

I don't quite see in the picture: is the glass in the left one broken?
Does the meter actually work?
If so, I think you can follow the instructions I posted earlier in this thread to dismount the meter frame, do some measurements, and have a small piece of thin glass cut to fit inside the frame. I am certain this would be cheaper than replacing the whole meter. I don't know exactly, but I would imagine these meters go for at least $100 a piece.
But I would call Shadow Hills to find out if they perhaps have the replacement glass or frame for the meters anyway.

No glass was broken, I've taken the VU's off and taken out the glass, I will test it more when I'm back home in a week to make sure the needles work ok. Here's some more pics to show the situation with the left hand glass out and the right hand one corrected.
