Switchable 600 ohm Output Termination on or off?

I purchased an used GAP PRE-73 DLX to increase my mic preamp capacity.

The manual is very minimal and doesn’t give any instruction for the use of the switchable 600 ohm output termination .

I tried to find the answer in the net forum, but decided its best to ask advice for the wiser than I am.

So, my question is, should this 600 ohm output termination be activated or not - and the reasoning for that/what does this do in practice.

As said, my use case is mic pre before the KT-2A, mainy vocal.

Try it both ways, and see if you can hear a difference. Then leave it in the state you like more.

Well, with the electric gadgedts ”what appears to be” with the settings is not the only criteria I like to operate.

E.g. in some cases, what seems to be OK, proves to be a risk in the longer term.

Therefore, better know than guess.

The 600 ohm termination switch is so if you are feeding a bridging high impedance input on another device the output of the 600 ohm device will see the proper termination. If you are feeding a device with a 600 ohm input then turn off the termination switch. Simple...

Thank you. Is the unit input impedance always available in the manuals?

Normally it is stated as "input impedance" in the manual. Today "most" equipment is set up for bridging inputs. Where you may run into 600 ohm inputs is on older gear especially tube gear.
