Anyone (cautiously) excited for the Tom Cat? For a $200 analog drum machine, it has some pretty impressive features. I hope that doesn't mean it'll sound like crap.

I thought the demos for that sounded interesting, and an improvement on the Rhythm Wolf. Shove this Tom Cat through a Proco Rat or an MXR and I bet it gets even tastier.

Round robin sequencing is something I know absolutely nothing about and never even heard the term till I was a NAMM. I am really excited to try it out and experiment with rr sequencing.

As for the question someone had about the sound, well as quoted above Akai redesigned the oscillators from the ground up since then but I can tell you that the envelope attacks were extremely fast. In fact Dan the Man had stated he is a fan of the Pro One and referenced that to the inspirational designing of the envelopes and they did sound very fast. I own a Pro One and use it all the time so I understood the reference.

He said the Timbre Wolf will be a kick ass sequencer. (paraphrasing but that's pretty much what he said)

I am really into my JDXi as a sequencer for my analog synths and if this thing is going to be fast and fun as that then I can see myself using it for a sequencer also.

The Akai Tom Cat is an improvement. A bit strange, but i like it.
