Yep, ordered. Weakness for a cheesy drum machine on sale. I noticed on Sweetwater it looks like the Tom has been discontinued.

Still waiting for that $99 Timbre Wolf. Black Friday is coming soon...

I figure even if I hate it I won't lose money getting rid of it.

Well I just learned something about myself...even at $99 I still don't want it. I just rewatched some vids to see if there was anything to entice me, and...nope.

Tom Cat is not that bad, for $99 is a steal. I mean, even vst plugins are more expensive. And in a youtube comparison between this one and a Volca beats, I think I prefer Tom Cat in almost all the sound comparisons.

I just couldn't resist at the price, my GAS won again :(

I picked one up for a 10 year old (plus a volca bass) that has been getting into techno.. he'll like it and as he gets more gear, it'll only get better lol

Actually it's $199 again..on MF.

At $99 I think it's worth it if you want something to dick around with. I got one. My only complaints are that out of the box the sound is a touch limited for the amount of controls you have...I have intentions to mod it but haven't gotten around to it. Also the hi hat open/close decay is stupid, out of the box...this can be solved with a mod.

No, it's not as good as software, but I could probably make that argument about just about any cheap drum machine/anything really you can find for $99.

On the plus side it's a lot bigger than the Volcas, at least you won't need tweezers, and it has full size midi ports out of the box...

Also real simulated wood panels!

i got one for 99 as well, its a fun little box and the 4 and 2 year old enjoyed banging on it while changing the sounds, my son and i love the clap even though it sounds nothing like a clap, crazy how the noise is almost thunder like lol

the kick drum is weak imho, good for a backing beat though, i actually like using the tom as a kick moreso, the hats and snare are ok but nothing amazing

its a fun little beater thats cheap, i dig it

The one i ordered just came in, so I carefully opened in to make sure its not DOA since its for a gift, and I gotta say I am impressed. It is no where near as bad as reviews/posts/everythingelse have lead me to believe. The range on almost every pot goes from "what? to usable to thats outta hand". The sequencer is immediate and with a/b/a+b/fill temp/fill permanent, it is downright fun to play with. I popped a midi out to the volca bass that I am also gifting with it and boom 20 minute jam session.

The sounds are easy to make techno style and with the growl or howl or whatever its called, the kick snare sound good. The hats sound better than the drumbrute. Speaking of the drumbrute, it felt about as heavy as that as well. and I would have preferred the click style sequencer buttons on the drumbrute over the soft pad ones. They feel good.

It feels solid and will no doubt please a lot of people. Hell, for 99$ i may pick up another just for sequencer duties to other drum modules or for a micro setup..

It is what it is and doesn't try to be anything else. For the price of 2 new monotrons or for a little less than a used korg beats, I say its a winner. And it will no doubt make the little human i'm giving it to have a blast cranking out 4 on the floor techno goodness

Does anyone know if you can record knob movements? The manual doesn't say so I'm assuming it doesn't.

I ordered one today purely based on the fact that my first name is Tom and that i have somehow earned the nickname disco. Also I have a cat. So for me it was a novelty purchase...or is it destiny? Having said that, I'm sure there will be one or two sounds I can use.
