Personally ,i have empathy. I've been sharing music via soundcloud.com for nearly 4 years & the community there has been amazing.
If i like someone's work i tell them, if i don't like someone's sound , i say nothing. That is my empathy & i believe strongly that for all the music i dislike, there's a thousand people out there who do like it. Ergo, just because i think it's shit, doesn't mean it is.
On the other hand though, by saying nothing i'm not being constructive.
It's hard to criticize any music though because there are no rules & people can do whatever they want.
If you're hurt by what people on forums say , in the cyber environment (And by 'you' i mean anyone) then what chance do you stand in the real world ?
That's exactly how i think it should be done!

If you like, say so, but if you don't no need to say anything. Constructive criticism is great! It's actually very honorable. It shows that you took the time to listen carefully and that it was worth the time to think about it.
If you want to complicate things you (as in anyone) can listen to what level the person is at. If the person just started out maybe he or she could use some encouragement for going in the right direction. A complement on the effort. I mean, if your child started playing the piano, would you only give him praise if he played like Mozart?

I think us musicians have an obligation to encourage other people to be creative. It makes for a happier society even if not everyone will write nr1 tracks.
And speaking of things making a happier society.. Korg Volcas!!!
Which one do you think would best complement an MD, A4 and Octatrack? Both keys and bass can play chords so that's a big plus. Even if you can do that with the A4 in a certain way. The ringmod mode on the keys seems like a killer! The LFO on the Bass is pretty fast though, isn't it?
When it comes to beats. I know it's analog and the slight variation matters a great deal. But the MD has that too, though it's digital. Not comparable pricewise, but i think a Tanzbär would be a better investment in that regard.
