And, as it happens, cheap as it may be, the Volcas seem to offer a lot of promise in terms of how you could stretch them beyond "standard" use.

I love some korg products but i dislike some others too. I like cheese but not every type !

yeah I like this. There's something "alive" (for a lack of a better description) about the sound, not static. Quite surprising for such a small and cheap little thing. Definitely going to get one.
But man, those encoders look really tiny ! You need little faery fingers to be able to manipulate them.

It's not about honesty, that's the easy part , it's about politeness, diplomacy ; that's a balance a lot of people are tempted to ignore while on the internet but are completely capable of achieving in real life; it's easy to come to a forum and be all "honest" because you really have to take no responsibility for it, very different than when you are looking at someone in the eyes.

honesty in real life takes responsibility too, it can make for a good discussion and getting to know someone even better...

unfortunately, there are many uptight people on forums who just take it all way too seriously, we're talking about gear here, not socio economical issues or something...

I think really that if you/anyone wants to put your music in a public place for all to access then you have to be prepared for critics as well as admirers.After all ,nobody makes us offer it out.
Personally ,i have empathy. I've been sharing music via soundcloud.com for nearly 4 years & the community there has been amazing.
If i like someone's work i tell them, if i don't like someone's sound , i say nothing. That is my empathy & i believe strongly that for all the music i dislike, there's a thousand people out there who do like it. Ergo, just because i think it's shit, doesn't mean it is.
On the other hand though, by saying nothing i'm not being constructive.
It's hard to criticize any music though because there are no rules & people can do whatever they want.

If you're hurt by what people on forums say , in the cyber environment (And by 'you' i mean anyone) then what chance do you stand in the real world ?

Im running mine of the older Korg 500mA adapters, not the newer recommended KA350 adapter which is listed as 2000mA. Presumably then if you could cable tap a KA350 there would be enough mA to power all three off the one adapter? The Korg tip is different to your typical type though my guitar cable tap is completely incompatible.

This is still my best guess though I havent tried it!

i'm getting the bass first i think. i kind of miss the secuencer of my sold emx and i think it can fill that hole.

I've done preliminary investigations and it looks like there should be plenty of current for a single power supply to run three Volcas. I won't know for sure until I get actual Volcas in my hands. But the big issue will be plug size. I've looked all over and I haven't found an off-the-shelf daisy chain cable that has barrels the same size as the KA350.

Eric from JRR shop has stated a couple of times that Korg is looking into a three way power supply. If they don't do it, I'm sure somebody else will (see my sig).

If cost is your main concern then check back with me in a few weeks. I'm sourcing inexpensive power supplies that match the KA350 specs. The price will be much lower than Korg's. In addition, my power supplies will have right angle connectors which will keep the cables further away from the cramped front panel.

I ended up biting the bullet and purchased 3x KA350s. It's a pain to have to plug them in but I don't like messing with batteries if they are staying put in my studio. I would definitely like to see a cleaner solution to this!

I hear you! The KA350 is expensive, but I could accept it. The thing that really bugged me was that they're sized in a way that they don't fit well onto a power strip. They hog two spots! The power supplies that I'm sourcing will only take a single spot on many power strips. My power supply is just a little bit wider than the OneSpot.

Since you already have the KA350s you could buy 6" extension cords to make them fit better on your power strip. I bought some a few months ago for something like $1.50 USD. I think Monoprice was the source.

Finally happy integrating my volcas into my set-up. My midi solutions T8 has arrived which the octatrack is driving/powering!

btw I do now have a useless quadra thru that I am looking to sell for cheap !

Someone who posted previously has a vid about grommets that will fit on them. The hole of the grommet he uses is 5mm. About .19 inch. Close to 3/16ths of an inch. Shouldn't be too hard to find.
