I think really that if you/anyone wants to put your music in a public place for all to access then you have to be prepared for critics as well as admirers. After all ,nobody makes us offer it out.
Personally ,i have empathy. I've been sharing music via soundcloud.com for nearly 4 years & the community there has been amazing.
If i like someone's work i tell them, if i don't like someone's sound , i say nothing. That is my empathy & i believe strongly that for all the music i dislike, there's a thousand people out there who do like it. Ergo, just because i think it's shit, doesn't mean it is.
On the other hand though, by saying nothing i'm not being constructive.
It's hard to criticize any music though because there are no rules & people can do whatever they want.
If you're hurt by what people on forums say , in the cyber environment (And by 'you' i mean anyone) then what chance do you stand in the real world ?
