I still wonder if Arturia will address patch memory, although I lean more towards playing synths and don't use patches for anything but a basic starting point sounds to tweak.
We know it has some digital like the LFO's MIDI, etc and has a USB port.
After all Arturia is software company. They may have something in the worx.
This WILL be a classic synthesizer. The first in a long line of classics.
The guy (or girl) who took the risk on this beast ought to be commended and may be responsible for changing the current landscape of synthesizers as we know it.

I don't see how they could? All the knobs don't really communicate with the digital parts that could send midi data via USB. I wouldn't get your hopes up on that one. There'd have to be some kind of hardware upgrade which I think is extremely doubtable.

Speaking of classics. Why some people claim that the MB is a modern SH101 and MS20 combined. Is it true? Reason is I really wanted a SH101'ish kinda sounds without the SH101 current $800 and up prices.

I think it's because it physically resembles an SH101. I have never played one, so can't comment too much on it, but have read the comparisons. As far as an MS20 I think it's filter is more aggressive (almost too aggressive for my taste) then the MB's filter which to me is a thing of beauty, both the LPF and HPF. The Steiner-Parker was a one of a kind and a never been since now. It was unusual in that it has a resistor network to give it that tone. Just more harmonically pleasant to my ears. I have to tame the MS20 filter in my Monotribe with effects. It REALLY screams!
Frankly, the MB is most likely it's own sound, but still has a vintage quality to it. Which is why it is so sought after.

Yeah, the filter is way more aggressive on the MS20. I miss not being able to apply both a HPF and LPF in series on the minibrute but the MB filters are still more aggressive than any moog I've played (at least from my experience) and definitely have their own personality.

I just listened to the new Metric album and a lot of the sounds on that I could get pretty close on the minibrute. :D Happy about that, it's the sound I've been shooting for. She uses a Sequential Circuits Pro-One, right?

Those be fighting words on this forum, true or not. But when you consider how overpriced Moogs are, and the knobless and featureless Phatty's, many people might just buy the brute, forcing Moogs hand. DSI is not the issue here. They have their own niche and sound.
I said this back in January. Moog should be very concerned about Arturia maybe not now, but in the future.
As I sit here today, there will be a multi oscillator version of the brute soon and a poly some time after. Maybe with effects.

Ms20 lol. Whoever said that has underestimated the ms20 somewhat. It's a far deeper synthesiser. Again tone aside.

Take taste in consideration : for me the ms20 is not a very deep synth(I have played one extensively) and I'm a lot more interrested in the timbrals possibilities of the MB.

To me the ms20 only have the dual filter, eveything else is just meh... (appart from the esp) the modular side is super limited and lack organisation imo.

Btw - why does it matter if comparison is made between analog monosynths with keyboard? For the sake of comparison, and since the mopho comes also in desktop form - there are many analog mono desktop synths that have more features than the minibrute. The new dominion x comes to mind, as an example (if you're talking about features).

Most don't have what set the MB appart : waveshapers that allow you to play with the harmonics content in a different way than a filter.

And even my Cwejman S1 can't do things the MB can do, even if the S1 has far more features (and cost a lot more).

Perhaps not the most flexible, but one of the most original.

You have completely missed the point. I'm talking about Analog Mono Keyboards. That was very clearly specified in my post. The Dominion X is not a keyboard. The DSI Mopho Keys is a mono keyboard; so are the SH-101, SH-1, SC Pro One, CS01 and Little Phatty. So let's keep on topic.

And yes it does matter that you compare products that are within the same category. You are not going to compare a Ford Fiesta to a Range Rover are you? It's apples to oranges.

Besides those MFB synths are very crude sounding. I much prefer stuff from Vermona.

I don't understand why with or without keyboard matters so much. Almost each synth you named has a desktop version. The mopho's engine is the same in the keyboard and desktop versions. The same goes for little phatty and slim phatty. The vermona example you gave isn't a keyboard...
The mfb dominion x is due to come out also as the dominion1 keyboard, so why does that matter?
Anyway, each synth has its own unique features. The dominion x has ringmod and fm which the mb doesn't.
I'll raise your mb with the GRP A4, and then we'll talk about special features in analog monosynths :-)

But i think you rushed a little bit in giving it the title of 1st place in number of features and unique features in an analog mono.

I rather have a modular than a GPR, It make more cense to compare them. 100% subjective and personal. there isn't even VC envelope, for this kind of synth it's a big let down to me.

On the other hands, everything in the MB make sense to me, given the context like price, size etc...

You all got me wrong. It amazez me how emotional eveybody is about this synth. I'm not criticizing the minibrute. It just seems childish to me when someone rushes into labeling it as the number 1 mono synth.
About your other remarks - ringmod isn't very special, but there aren't many monosynths that has that.

It's funny as time goes on, the thread becomes more and more polarized between the detractors and the hyperbole mavens. I've got one on preorder, but I have no illusions as to it being the best thing since sliced beats. I'm just hoping it's a cool little synth for a budget price.

You obviously don't know what you're talking about. The GRP A4 has two voltage controlled multi-stage loopable envelope generators.

Probably not too many. Indeed a unique feature to the minibrute. And again - i think this synth sounds great. But if it's unique features we're talking about - what else is unique besides the wavefolder?

Does it sound good? Sure does.

I have made some search, seems like you didn't understand what I say : I talked about VC-envelope, it's an envelope where you can use CV to control the time segment.

Nothing like that in the GRP and to me it's an essential feature for sequencing. So take more time before writing "You obviously don't know what you're talking about."

Pretty good poInt in the last paragraph . If Arturia continue with his kind of momentum , there is no doubt they could become a major player. Ofher manufacturers will have to respond which can only mean more choice and hopefully at an affordable price .
The only thing I could see getting in the way is if the synths develop an unforeseen fault . Hopefully this won't happen although someone on YouTube claims the arpeggiator has issues

I'm glad to know that's what you meant when you said "VC - envelope", but to the best of my knowledge and experience, the term "VC envelope" simply reffers to a ... voltage controlled envelope. That is, as opposed to a digitally controlled envelope. The ability to modulate each stage of the envelope has nothing to do with it being voltage controlled. Take the evolver for example. It has digitaly controlled envelopes, and you can set the modulation matrix so that the (digitally) controlled step sequencer modulates which envelope stage you like. You can also do that in a completely digital synth such as the Solaris.
So just to be clear:
1) "voltage controlled" - as the opposite of digitally controlled.
2) The abiliity to modulate each of an envelope's stage - does not require it to be voltage controlled. It could be done on digital synths as well.
3) The fact that a synth is modular or not also doesn't have anything to do with that. The new pittsburgh adsr module doesn't have any cv in's to control each of the eg's stages.

So, there.

This is really a matter of final sonic result. The wavefolder sort of gives unique timbres that reminds me of osc sync (which the minibrute does not have), but different and unique.
The "supersaw" is the minibrute's way to get to a similar sonic result as detuning oscilators against each other. I don't care how it's done. At the end of the day it sounds just like osc detuned against each other. Nothing unique about that.
Again - not saying the supersaw wave doesn't sound good. But unique?
