Push 2 and Peak users, have a midi question: The endless encoders at the top of the Push 2 aren't updating the Peak during the knob sweep...just when I stop turning the encoder.

Example: map Peak filter cutoff to a macro in Live. Drawing in automation sends continuous updates to Peak and I get a smooth filter sweep. Using the Push 2 to turn the macro mapped to the cutoff results in just the last position of the macro to be sent when I stop turning the encoder (no smooth sweep).

Controlling other hardware works fine. Drawing in the automation works fine. Just turning encoder in Push with Peak doesn't work.

Thoughts? Am I missing a configuration or is this a Peak problem?

LOL. I see no reason for that to happen. NL4 and A1 are still very good sellers.

The NL4 was released in 2013, I think it's about time they released a NL5 in 2018. Time to move forward.

Totally agree. I could've done without the onbard FX if they'd included a sequencer instead. Then it really would've been a 10/10 synth, for me at least.

Hey, the blofeld I have on order is 4 fiddy. But the lack of knobs is disTERBing to me.

Because it has knobs, editing the blofeld is a PITA. Second, because it has better effects, and the saturtion in the analog part sounds great it seems.

Moar knobs + Peak has a real analouge filter and amp and real analouge distortion effect. The digital waveforms have a DAC each they are oversampled 512 times.

They are two different things. Blofeld can do things Peak can't (sample playback, custom wavetables) and vice versa.

Yes but you cannot add your own. It also has fewer wavetables than the Blo and they have less waveforms in them (it only has 17 wavetables with 5 waveforms each, Blofeld has a BUNCH of wavetables (68) with up to 64 waveforms each and place for 38 of your own).

quite interested in the wavetable + xmod capabilities of the Peak as well. I know what's what on paper, yet, not being able to test one in person, don't have a good impression on how far you can drive the Peak into digital weirdness. I know, apples and oranges etc., but what keeps me interested in particular synths is their ability to surprise me with musically usable accidents, if this makes sense. The old Waldorf stuff, for instance, can be driven to behaving weirdly in terms of garble/distortions, mostly on account of the bit reduced waveforms and gain staging (some of this ghostly business is also there in the Ambika, esp. the different ways to mix waveforms). As for the Peak, the designated drive options are less desirable to me, as far as one can judge from youtube, and the basic sonic character reminds me often of the Korg DW8000. As for the latter, however, my interest never lasted long since the basic waveforms don't offer the greatest variation or interaction (same for Kawai K3).

Anything about the Peak that goes into the direction of Microwave, Esq1, Ambika?

From what I heard so far, Peak has a much smoother character than MW or ESQ or Ambika.

My problem right now is acquiring the fourth (Peak). Is there any retailer in the US that has one in stock? Everywhere I look it seems to be backordered.

I've only ever sold two bits of equipment in my life, one of which was the Blofeld. Man I hated it down to its core. The sound was superb but editing a complete nightmare.

It was like being invited to an amazing Michelin star restaurant only to have your hands tied behind your back and no cutlery.

Yes, there are seven available. Five are new, and two are offered for sale in the CONUS. Of those two, one is a preorder, and the only one actually available has a 14-day return policy. I want to stick with a larger retailer with a 30-day return policy, as I was not able to spend any real quality time with a Peak. I did play one at NAMM several weeks ago, but the ambient noise level made it impossible to really evaluate.

You have obviously never edited a Microwave I. Or a DX7. Blofeld is a walk in the park by comparison.

Sweetwater has them again, as of this moment. I snagged one. They don’t usually last long though.

I just sent my Peak in with a fauilty LED and they told me they'll swap it, but that the next batch isn't due in until the end of April. This is in Japan. Looks like it's in demand.
