Congrats, played one for the first time yesterday and was soooo close to just getting my card out then and there. This is definitely my favourite recent synth in demos and now under my hands. The interface is great and the sounds really excellent. If the prologue doesn’t do it for me on release then one of these is certainly in my future ... though I could honestly see both. DSI has never done it for me for some reason.

Cancelled my preorder on a Prologue and did exactly that and walked out of the shop with one. I am a proud owner of the Peak. Absolutely in love with this thing.
I have it inputting my Kronos, so I can layer etc also use the Kronos fx and sequencer if need be.

The Prologue can wait, for now

I'm still undecided about getting a Novation Peak. But, I did cancel my Prologue 16 voice Pre-Order. I think I will wait until Summer, and see what else is new, and sounding great.

Another Peak bystander here — but thinking more and more of getting one, provided I can sell off a bunch of gear I don’t use much. The recent Alphacode, Uriel Ortega, and Ehsan Gelsi youtubes (posted earlier) are impressive, and Magikroom and Nick have already shown us how versatile the synth is.

A nerdy thought: I wonder if Novation’s update decision to pull down the default overall volume of the synth has helped sell it. So many of the early videos overused the overdrive/distortion (imo), or clipped occasionally, or both. From Alphacode’s video on, it seems like we’re getting to hear how good the Peak can sound totally clean.

A subtle thing, I know ... but what makes for pleasing timbre is subtle.

Got my hands on a Peak for a bit this weekend, and really loved it - very rich sound, and the controls feel wonderful. It's definitely on my list...

Very easy to over do the overdrive and distortion but it's a nice problem to have. It sounds analogue.
Loved my System 8 but honestly the Peak sounds richer, warmer and dirtier if that's what you need.

Yeah, dirt is good as long as it’s voluntary, desired dirt.

Just turn it down/off. It does it all.

Yep just backing way off on the VCA gain stops the distortion.

No arguments here. The extra envelope and the ability to set number of LFO reps are also very nice. Someone took a lot of trouble designing this instrument.

Oh well ... probably time to sell off 4 rarely used synths, and get some Peak money. I hate the hassles of selling, but then again someone else should be playing the gear I’m sitting on. Maybe I can get a Peak out of it.

Funny that, just listening to the demos and the filter sounds very similar to my Bass Station mk1 - nice that the lineage is so clearly traceable!

Hello mind if I join in, picked mine up yesterday and first thing I noticed/loved was how loud it was, f yeah it's loud out of the box, and sounds even better in person through my monitors than I imagined. I haven't investigated any firmware updates yet but that's next.

The Firmware update will reduce the gain of the presets they were too high causing notable unwanted noise for those that had their audio gear cranked right up. I never had a problem.

It seems it sounds punchy and rich, almost a refined rawness. I'm really wanting this synth, can't find any in stock anywhere. How the low end? This would by my alternative to the Sub37 or Matrixbrute. Looking for snappy envelopes with a bit of burn on the filter.

Sure. Dial down the mixer levels is step number 1, always.

Also, Peak's reverb is lush and dreamy by definition. I would never want to dial that back. It sounds stupendously good.

Nope. Won't happen this year.

But this would be the first thing I would do on any modern synth in order to try and get it more "vintagey".

This is what eventually tipped me over the edge to buy mine, the verb is really nice, has a nice floating whisper about it, doesn't sound as digital as the one on the System 8. I'm still driving through all the presets and getting familiarised with the layout, speaking of which it's very logical and flows across the UI as you would expect.

If there was two things I would love added to it, it would be a sequencer and keys, for the longest time I balked at buying it cause of no sequencer, that really is a bummer, particularly when the synth has no keyboard, you can't even really play it without something connected, a sequencer would have made so much sense.

I've no qualms with that since I already have a master keyboard.


But sure, if they eventually make a 16-voice keyboard, that might be an interesting proposition...

A Dual Part, 8 Voice per Part (Total of 16 Voices), with Independent Effects per Part, would be awesome ! Be it a Keyboard, or Desktop (I prefer Desktop to conserve space).. if the price is reasonable, it would be an instant buy for me. The Peak Desktop sounds very good, but I decided to wait until Summer, just in case Clavia releases a NL5 or NLA2.

I don't see that happening at all.
