What is the most immersive music creation environment for you?

Is it your modular system? Your MPC + sh-101? Is it Reason, Live or NI Reaktor? Octatrack? Memorymoog? Your whole studio or a single piece of equipment? I'm curious about your subjective experiences. What makes you forget time and just start existing in another plane, where music is everything?

For me it can be several things. The last time it happened was with a setup of Elektron boxes, xoxbox, TTSH, a mixer and som gritty hardware effects. Same loop over and over again but it just was alive and I didn't want to be anywhere else. Subtle Changes on Controls or triggers made corresponding changes in a landscape that was at the same time created and explored.

I'm usally having this experience with a good computer and Reason. I'm just hiding the browser and the sequencer and patching away in the rack view. I really enjoy the modular way of adding things, and even though I'm using a mouse it feels tactile and I just feel that I can create deeper and deeper chains of almost self-replicating patterns of sounds.

As of now I'm looking into getting maschine and reaktor, with the only purpose of finding more immersive systems.
