Cubase 7 unwanted Vst preset changes while playing track...
Hi, I'm relatively new to Cubase. I have been using the Cubase 7 Elements trial. Overall I am very pleased with it. However I have an issue at the moment that is halting any further changes to my track.
Essentially I have a part of a track looped using the markers and its is playing through a vst plugin. I am trying to audition different presets when its playing to see what sounds best (different arpeggiators). However when i change the preset it goes back to some horrible sounding preset each time the loop restarts.
When i click 'show all automation' it shows about 30 different tracks of automation for this original track. Obviously cubase is treating my auditioning of presets as a form of automation and has recorded my preset auditioning process and is now trying to play it back to me.
All i want to do is change the preset as it is playing and then when i find a preset i like for it to stay as that.
Did you try uncheck the little "W" button on the track display?
When you hilight write and push play it will record all changes you make, alternatively if you don't want it to read the automation you can uncheck "R" and it will stop playing the automation tracks.
If that doesn't work then often the problem is that you are using a loop with midi control change messages. You can open the piano roll, click on display automation and look for anything that has a star beside it. That means there is data in that cc lane. then you can delete it.
Yeah its nothing to do with the read and write functions they were both disabled.
Also when i click show all automation it shows numerous vst switching events on different automation tracks. I deleted all these yet the preset still changes when i get to a certain part of this track.
I believe it is because i copied part of another track channel in the work area and dragged it into this channel. It seems as though it retained some properties from the previous track channel even though it is now in a different one. I presumed it would just copy the note data and be played through the synth i have on this new track channel.
So say in this new track channel i have presest arpeg1 playing on some note data i arranged earlier, when it gets further along the track to the part i copied/dragged in from another track channel the preset changes. Must be some kind of inherited properties from the original track that the copied part brings with it?
Then when the preset changes and the song starts to loop again the bloack at the beginning of the channel that were playing in arpeg 1 now play in some other preset that was triggered by the copied part.
Not sure if there is some technical term for this, but feels like some form of property inheritance?
