So, I am in 7.5.20, and am mixing a live show -- 27 songs and about 2 1/2 hours. When I engage Variaudio for vocal tuning, it analyzes the entire track, which takes multiple minutes. What I would like to do is just do each song on the fly, without having to analyze the entire 2 1/2 hour wav file. This also applies to tuning of some instruments. I don't need to analyze the entire wav files; just the snippets I need to tune. A note here and there. Besides, if I've got to use Variaudio on multiple tracks, it's sure to either crash or take so long to analyze [and then save] as to be unworkable.

At this point, I'm not overly keen on splitting each song into a separate project. And besides, I'd have to bounce each song project's tracks to have its own separate underlying .wav files.

The question, then, is this: can I get Variaudio to analyze and tune just portions of a track, or is it all or nothing?

If you split the part you want, select it and use "bounce" on the audio menu you can create a little region that wont take as long analizying with variaudio.

This is good advice for many reasons...
Even when I'm working on a song of 3 minutes length,
I cut and bounce the sections that need Variaudio first.


Saves tons of time.
No chance of screwing up the whole take.
Easy to get back to raw vocals if needed.
You can change the color of the sections
that need variaudio to keep things easy at a glance.
Crucial to me.

Press '3' (scissors), click to snip out the region you want to tune, press '1' (arrow), select the region, right-click, 'U', 'B' (bounce selection), double click and you're good to go. Should take you about 50millisecods to do the above

Been doing this routine forever, highly recommended !
On top of the already mentioned good reasons, depending on situation these small snippets often help you to avoid processing material repeatedly, just because you want to "quickly edit that one crappy note" elsewhere.
It also does not hurt to plan and organize the various types of edits in a way requiring the least amount of render processes.
Think of the guys digging up your street for the 3rd time in a year, just because they forgot to put in the phone cable before ...

OK, how about this: I have already tuned the vocal on one song out of the 27 in the recording. Any way to keep that tuned vocal and still split/bounce the rest of the songs?

If you still have the original pre-Variaudio file or can undo the processing, I would start from scratch. As it is now, 26 of your songs have already been variaudio'd for nothing, needlessly degrading their quality.
And, personally I would not only cut between songs, I would create a separate project for every one of them, and cut up the relevant track(s) to isolate single vocal lines, even individual words pre Variaudio.
Ok, this will take time, but if you want this to be good ...
If it were my own project I'd certainly put in the work, if it is a paid job, the clock is my ally anyway.
Never had a problem communicating this to a client.
